5 more days and I am wondering if we picked way too fancy clothes for the formal night. ( nothing crazy but elegant and yes....fancier than regular casual clothes ) don't want to feel out of place...lol

Thanks

You won't. A lot dress up. A lot don't. Some will be in ball gowns. I wear cocktail dresses and DH wears a tie.

From everything I have seen here, you will get the full spectrum. Some will ignore it completely and come as they are but you will also see some people in tuxedos. So go ahead and class it up, get some good pictures and enjoy yourself.

If your dressy clothes make you happy, wear your dressy clothes.

Will everyone be dressed up? No.

Awesome. We love to dress nice for that one night. Our last cruise was 5 years ago so I was wondering. I know things change all the time :) Thanks so much

We do. We also dress up for semi-formal and Palo's/Remy's. It's also a great night to get pictures taken while you're all dressed up.

I agree you will see a wide range of attire on formal nights, and really, all nights. I personally like dressing up and taking formal night as an opportunity for a nice family photo, but not everyone does. Do what you feel comfortable with. :)

We like dressing up. Fiance wears a jacket and tie on formal night and I wear at minimum a cocktail dress. Sometimes I wear something longer and a little more formal but it really depends on what our plans after dinner is.

Wear what makes you Happy. We enjoy getting dressed up. Some don't .. whatever works.
Have a great time

Our last cruise, the comedian really teased some people dressed casually on formal night.

I think cruisers should go with the recommendations of the ship. That being said, we leave in a few days, and we'll be in cocktail attire, women in cocktail dresses or nice flowey maxi dresses and the men in suits, or coat and tie. It makes for a night of nice family pictures. And it can be fun to do something out of the ordinary. Enjoy your cruise.

My personal observation of this over the years is that the longer the cruise, the more "formal" people tend to get...on our 14 nighter, we packed a full tux, and 2 formal gowns. Probably half of the men were in a full suit, many in tuxes...and the women were in formal wear. If we were going for 3 nights...no way! Maybe a Summer Dress and khakis (think garden wedding)...

On our 7- and 8-nts, we dressed up for both formal and semi-formal nights. I wore a cocktail dress and heels and my husband a suit and tie. Our girls in their pretty dresses. Our formal pics from the professional photographers are definitely cherished and those with characters are as well. On our upcoming 3-and 4-nts with no formal or semi-formal but only Optional Dress Up, i will wear sundresses and my husband prob khakis and no tie, but collared shirt. It's def what you feel comfortable in. We would not feel comfortable dressed down too much in a nice setting such as the MDRs.

For us it depends on the cruise. In the Caribbean we tend to be more relaxed on dressing up versus Alaska or Europe we tend to dress up more. You will see almost everything for formal dress.
