Forgot to buy something in park!

While in DCA on Saturday, we wanted to buy something but totally forgot at the end of the night.

We went to World of Disney last night and they don't sell the item we want. (A watch). We asked Guest Services if they could get it for us and were told no....we would have to buy a ticket to go back in the park.

Does anyone know if this is typical or just poor customer service. If we did try to order it ( which I am told we won't be able to as it is limited supply) the shipping would be over $100. We are at Grand Californian til mid day today. I thought they would just have someone go and get it for us as they do at WDW.

I don't want to purchase a full day ticket to go and buy a watch. Any suggestions?

You can try calling Contact Merchandise Guest Services by telephone at 877-560-6477. They can check all the parks to find items sold there and then ship them to you.

bigrob37, thanks for the reply. As I mentioned, the shipping, even if they could get it which they thought would probably not be possible, would be $100 which is crazy on a watch priced the same.

I thought possibly, being that we are literally within 500 feet of where they sell it, maybe I was told the wrong info.

I don't know if they still do it, but my mom and & I were able to go into the parks with a "shopping pass" about 12 years ago. You get it at guest services outside the park and you get 1 hour. Good luck!

Thanks, DLmama. I will go to Guest Services and ask! Can't hurt to try.

Have a good day!

Could be wrong, but I think they discontinued this some time ago. Of course, it never hurts to plead your case and ask and see if you get some pixie dust.

vegs1 -

Did you try asking the Concierge at the GCH for help? It seems like there must be something they could do. They're there to help the guests. If they can't get the watch for you, it seems they could at least offer up an idea of how you can get it.

It's doubtful that shipping would be $100.

Is Disneyland DelivEARS still operational? The number used to be 1-800-362-4533. I used it a lot in the distant past, when I wanted to order something over the phone that I saw in Disneyland. Maybe that old 1-800 number now leads to the same place as the number that Bigrob37 gave you??

Check all of the 3 hotels' gift shops too (such as the Fantasia shop in the DLH).

Shipping for the parks merchandise stuff is calculated based upon the value of items purchased. So an small expensive watch will cost a whole lot more to ship than a huge inexpensive item. Go figure. Whether it's $100 is anyone's guess, but I suppose it's possible.

Then it has changed from when I used to order things. I haven't ordered anything directly from Disneyland in many years, but I used to do it after every trip (I would always think of something later on that I should have gotten in the parks, and then I would end up ordering a bunch of things at one time -- coincidentally, many of which were watches, although not necessarily the extremely limited ones) and at that point they were charging differently for shipping.

For what it's worth, the cost of shipping from the Parks is based on a few different factors and can vary greatly based on what is being shipped. It could be the actual $, it could be the weight, and collectibles ship at a higher rate. Usually the location you are shipping to is what jacks up the price if you're not from the US.

They DID discontinue this service about 10 years ago. We used to do our Holiday shopping the day after we went to Disneyland with the Shopping Pass but they don't do it anymore.

Last trip at GCH in May, I forgot to get a frame my Mom really wanted and I went to the concierge and asked if someone could get it for me and they said they couldn't.
The frame is exclusive to the parks to she gave me the number to call which I believe is the one SherryE posted and it was about $60 to ship the $29.95 frame!
So they WILL ship you an item from inside the park, but the OP said, it's odd shipping costs.

BTW - I ended up getting $40 cash from the ATM and standing in front of the gates in late morning and picked a young couple that looked like AP's (they were) and explained my situation and asked them to grab it for me.
I know that's a little too trusting but I figured if they were AP's and going in late, they weren't really worried about their time and would be willing to get it for me and meet me at a time convenient for them later (we met at Monorail Station Downtown Disney when they went to lunch).
They were so kind she used her discount and tried to give me the change but I told them to keep it and get corn dogs on me for their kindness...:)

Maybe try that?

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

They allowed me a pass to go in for an hour and get the watch. Had to plead my case but when they found out it apparently can't be shipped they allowed it.

I would be charged a whole day park hopper if I didn't return within the hour.

So glad I got what I needed.

Thanks again!!!

Sad to be leaving but it was a great first visit.
