Anyone remember the name of the hotel that you can catch a cab too and use their casino and beach for free? I want to say the Wyndam but now I can't remember.
Thanks,

Is it Atlantis? I know there's a paid excursion there but maybe you can use the beach free?
Good luck.

Yes, the Atlantis Resort is the big one. You can use their casino and beach, but not their pool/water park unless you are a guest there. Same for their extensive aquariums.

You might be thinking of the Wyndham Crystal Palace.
Last year we rented a room and did Atlantis but this year I
plan to try the Wyndham for free (or the $5.00 non resort guest
towel fee)

dharma-

It is the Wyndham, but be warned! We were just there last week only to find that the pool is closed for renovation and the beach was pretty dismal due to the hurricanes. The Beach may be okay by now but the pool was scheduled to be closed until at least Sept 30th - at least according to their sign.

Shhh - but we managed to slip onto the beach next door, which is the Radisson. They technically don't allow that but apparently it depends on how nice (think $$) ;) you are to the security guard. They have a lovely pool, too.

Do you mean that you can view the aquariums, or no? You confused me on this one!

Yes; I want to know about the aquariums too. We will be on the cruise November 7-11. I want to see Atlantis so I plan on taking the shorter, cheaper excursion. I am hoping to see the aquariums and all of the grounds. I am willing to pay the excursion price to see it. However, if you can see it all without paying for the excursion I would definitely prefer that!

The aquariums ("The Dig") require a seperate admission if you are not a guest at the resort. It's somewhere in the $22-25 range.

Just went to Atlantis this past week. "The Dig" would have been $100 for our family of four ( 2 adults, 2 kids ages 6&11). You can go into The Atlantis resort and casino without charge... there is an area to view some of the aquarium with out the charge...but to get into the dig....and in the tunnel you have to pay...as for the huge water park....you have to be a resort guest to have acess to that area along with the pools.

You could easly pay for a taxi to take you to the casino/resort and do a walking tour of the casino and some of the outside on your own. You could spend the whole day just looking at everything....and of course shopping.

Sorry to sound ignorant, but is "The Dig" part of the "Discover Atlantis" excursion? That's $33/person. I'm really stressing over the Nassau excursions...keep flip flopping from one to the other.

I thought I had it all figured out when I found out that Blue Lagoon is a/k/a Salt Cay and thought we'd do a beach day there, but then I thought, do we need 2 beach days in a row, will we get bored.

Then I thought maybe we'd just walk around Nassau for a bit and go back to the ship.

Then my mother mentioned that the aquariums at Atlantis were amazing and my son loves fish...so now I'm back to square one.

Another idea is to book a day room at the Atlantis and then you can use the pools, waterslides and view the aquariums- I'm not sure if you can see all of the aquariums of just some. We went last week and got a day room at the Comfort Suites (across the street and cheaper than Atlantis itself). The Comfort Suites is the only other place that Atlantis will let use it's facilities. It ended up costing $212 total for our family of four, but the kids loved the pools and waterslides. Hope this helps!

The Discover Atlantis tour will take you on a very rushed guided tour thru about three quarters of the Dig.

To do it yourself, is a few dollars more, but worth it to really take your time exploring the resort and the fact by yourself you will be dropped right at the door to Atlantis, the water taxi included in the excursion drops you off a few blocks from the resort.

Basically to get over to Atlantis is very simple.

  • Leave the ship and go to the end of the dock.
  • Take one of the numerous taxis for (right now, price partially depends on a bridge toll) $4 per person to Atlantis, much more pleasant than the overcrowded water taxi. Or, you can find limos for hire there as well for comparable prices.
  • Find the kiosk that is selling the wristbands, have been told it was moved to make finding it easier.
  • Buy a wristband for $29 each Adults, $20 Kids 4-12, under 4 free, for access to all the resort except the water recreation.
  • Walk the Dig at your own pace. It's long, at least a mile or more, but it is exceptional. And you basically walk about 2/3 of the property in doing so, they give you a map. You can go where you wish, at your own pace.
  • Whenever you're done, just go back to where you were dropped off for another taxi ride back to the ship.

And don't get stressed; the only excursion I have heard as being really 'bad' was the glass bottom boat tour.

Okay, so for about $87 (based on your $29 price) for 3 of us (2 adults and a 13-year old), plus the cost of a taxi/limo ($12-$15 approx), we can see some good stuff.

The Discover Atlantis tour would be $99.

Am I reading this right?

Seems like your way is the way to go. Thanks for the info!!

I really don't feel like spending tons of money on the exursion so I think we will try the Wyndam...or if that is not up to par..maybe we too can grease the palms of some security guards..lol

how many people can you have for the day room at either the comfort suites or atlantis? we are looking at 4 adults and 2 children under 5. and when can you book the room? thanks!

Thanks so much for this great information. I have been to Disney World numerous times and consider myself to be pretty good with planning those trips. However, this is my very first cruise so I feel a bit overwhelmed at the planning. I have no idea what I am doing! I do know that I want to see Atlantis. I don't know if the pools and slides are exactly what we will do, but I do know we want to see the aqauriums! It looks as if I need to plan on doing it all on our own. We don't mind the little extra cost; we just want to see it all.
Do you think it will be too much walking for 6 & 9 year old daughters?
:D :D :D :D
