Forgive me -what is a DING?

I have read the threads and can't figure out what is meant by DING. Sorry for being so dense.

go to southwest's website , and you can download the service to your desktop.

i just booked philly to orlando in april for $34 each way plus tax.

thats $348 for a family of four.

DING is a downloadable programme from Southwest Airlines It sits on your desktop, and every now and then (twice a day, sometimes), you get DINGed, with a list of DING specials. They are a timed special-so you have to respond asap, and within the time limits. You'll need a zip code when you download the programme. I used 32830 which is Wilderness Lodge. It doesn't cost anything, doesn't add any junk, and is a sweet way to get a bargain. Oh....and the ONLY way to get a DING fare, is to use the link in the DING 'email' itself. HTH

DING! is a program offered by Southwest airline, very low and cheap fairs are offered to you when you get "Ding-ed", that is, if you're subscribed to their program.

Go to southwest.com and download their Ding program, and enter a Buffalo zip code (I'm assuming that's where you'll be flying out), and that's it!

I cant believe you!!

i just got DINGED and by the time i went to check the info-- philly to orlando-- all the good ding fares were gone! This is my first time "DINGING" and how fast do you have to be!!? i was practicing for when the real thing comes along.......i will be traveling in Sept.

any advise you want to give...... ...come on howda do it?!....

I just got dinged and your post was like.... a half hour ago!! no wonder all the fares were gone by the time i got dinged....

Some are already gone the first minute....they have a certain number for each flight, then they are gone. I'm going wednesday to wednesday, so i have had two chances to get the same flights at the ding rate.

Its all about selling unsold seats, the weekend seats are hardly ever going to be ding seats.

I had already booked four of us at $79 each way, now im at $68 round trip, on virtually the same flights.
