Few the past few trips I have used touringplans and/or
tour guide mike. I will be in WDW in June this year, Should
I even look at this stuff, recommended park etc.

I plan to be at the parks about 30 mins before rope drop,
and go back to the resort around noon for a long break.

If you are there at rope drop, does it matter what park is
the busiest that day?

What am I missing?

My thought would be that if you are not taking advantage of a.m. EMH, getting there at rope drop on a park with an EMH morning is going to have considerably longer lines than on a non-EMH morning, and you will not be getting as much done. If not doing EMH I would use the sites to avoid those parks (but of course, the "official" dates of EMH are not released until around 90 days out) so you may have to adjust.
