Forecast shows rain EVERYDAY we are there!

Actually, if you read most of the replies to the OP, I think you'll agree that is what most have said - albeit somewhat more politely.

I prefer tough love. It's just the way it is. People try to plan and control every minute of their Disney vacations to an obsessive degree, but you can't control the weather. Its a silly thing to worry about. Either it will rain everyday, or it won't.

Bring ponchos and have fun! It has rained so many times we go to Disney and we never let it spoil our fun :)

Edited to add that we were at magic kingdom last night and it down poured for a little while, we put our ponchos on and kept going, the kids loved splashing in the water :)

So far it looks like rain EVERYDAY while we are there, and I don't mean "scattered thunderstorms" like FL is known for, I'm seeing rain from the 27th to sept 3! I sure hope this isn't totally accurate since its still 9 days away but wow that would be a total bummer. I can handle the hour or so quick showers but all day would really put a damper on our vacation. We LOVE the waterparks too.

I hear you! We will be there the same dates 8/27-9/4. We always go at the end of August so we expect scattered thunderstorms but the forecasts I have been looking at basically say cloudy and rain. We are planning on going to both water parks and a pool day. Hoping that the forecasts are wrong and it will be the usual August showers and thunderstorms. Have a fabulous trip.

We are there the 25th - 30th, and I am watching the development of Isaac very carefully. Way too soon to know where he'll go or when he'll go there, but he makes me nervous. We've never been to WDW with the kids in August, and I was opposed to it because of the hurricane threat. Really hoping Isaac stays away!

I've heard WDW keeps everything open as long as it's safe, so we're planning on forging ahead regardless. Worst case scenario, we'll have some good stories to tell. :-)

I am getting nervous about this storm too! We leave the 29th and come home on the 3rd. With 2 small children, I really don't want terrible weather the whole trip!

We need the rain here in Central Florida so bring it on. Come winter, there is little to no rain which brings the fires. Also, it keeps the tourist count down in the parks which always makes us locals happy.

This past October we were only there for 2 days. It rained almost all day both days. We just put on the ponchos and kept going. Fortunately for us the rain kept alot of ppl away. I have pics taken mid day near space mountain just looking out over tomorrowland and there are very few ppl in them. Praying for rain on our upcoming trip. Lol.

I'm keeping my eye on the storm too, we're arriving this Saturday and coming home on the 2nd. But you know last year I was really concerned about Irene and ironically it missed us in WDW but then knocked out power back home in NYC. You just never know.

We're going the 7th of September....ponchos are in the Disney backpacks.....

If you're looking for positives regarding Issac (now known as "94L") take a look at what hurricanetrack.com has to say about it:

We're headed down in 5 days and can honestly say I have not looked at the weather. I'll probably have a look when we arrive to plan which day to hit the water park, but I'm pretty sure each days predictions will say something like "90's, partly cloudy with a 40-60% chance of rain..." I think they flip a coin to decide which graphic they put on each day - heads gets the one with all clouds & lightning bolts..... tails gets the one with part of the sun showing & lightning bolts....:rotfl2:

We know we'll be fine if it rains as will you. We've learned watching Orlando weather can drive you crazy, so we no longer look at it. As the others have said just be prepared. Have a great trip!!

People would think I was high if I planned a trip to the North Pole during February & then just before my trip I started worrying that omg it might snow while I'm there. Yet, for some reason, each summer there are pages & pages of posts on these boards from frantic people who planned vacations to an outdoor venue during hurricane season who are now freeeeeeeeeeeeaking out that it might rain on them. :rotfl:

I understand the impulse. I really do. But there's nothing that can be done about it at this point except for coping & compensating with clothing choices. You'll have fun anyway, no matter what.

Exactly. Coming from Minnesota, we all know about weather forecasting, as in the Storm of the Century with 20" of snow forecast usually turns out to be a light dusting of snow, and a sunny winter day without a flake of snow in the forecast can mean an ice storm that will coat and snap power lines and coat the roads until spring with washboard ruts. If you listened to the forecast, you would never leave the house! But, as it were, you just live your life and don't be an idiot - just be prepared and have your winter kit in the car and plenty of food in the house!

So, we'll be there on August 26th with plenty of throw-away rain ponchos (I usually get a few for each of us from Walmart for $0.88 a piece cause I hate trying to dry, fold and reuse them) and we'll look forward to having a great time whatever the weather is like.

it rains in August. Yes. But what everyone was saying was that the forecast was BEYOND just normal rain. Most of us who go in the summer know that it rains. We know what the forecast looks like. This summer though the forecast has been showing a lot more rain. Beyond typical rain. That's what people are trying to say.

no one is getting all freaked out. But no one get giddy when it rains. No one says, "hey, I wish it would rain EVERY day of my vacation in florida!" So I think it's a perfectly normal response to see a forecast that is beyond normal and feel a little sad about it.

I can worry about anything...fligts, car rentals, ADRs but I refuse to worry about the weather.:cool2:

When we went in November a few years ago it rained every day except the day we left! We still had a most excellent time! And as others have said, it changes all the time. We went 2 years ago in December and the 10 day forecast was mostly in the low 70s. So I didn't take many warm clothes. Reality was they broke records for low temps two days in a row. Wore shorts exactly one of the eight days there!! But, still, we had a wonderful time! Go and enjoy...whatever the weather!

Relax. It's not even Isaac yet. Heck, it's not even a tropical depression from what I'm reading.

As a very good friend just said to me, it will be what it will be. Take ponchos and enjoy the fact that the crowds may be slimmer if it pours.

Personally, I think it's more fun! There are no crowds and who cares if you get wet? A lot of the rides are indoor and it will create a lot of great memories! You can't change it so just make the best of it!!! :cool1:

I didn't read through the thread, so I'm sure this has already been said in some way. We just got back last week. The forecast every day was 60% chance of rain or more - we always go in August and it ALWAYS rains in FL in the summer, so we're used to it. I can tell you that for the most part, it rained every day for anywhere from 1-2 hours in the afternoon. Not a steady downpour during that time, but more like off and on showers. One day it rained for a little longer into the evening, but still wasn't anything that stopped our fun. We had our ponchos on and got a little damp. We still had a blast because rain in Disney is still better than being home!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't care if it rains from the minute I step foot in Orlando to the minute I come home. Disney is safe as far as hurricanes are concerned. I am also well aware of the risks associated with traveling this time of year and buy the appropriate insurance.
I'm also going to watch how these storms and yes I say storms ,because there are 3 shaping up,in case I need to change my flights. I've had to do it for snow storms and it's saved me time and aggravation. I also sat with people who couldn't get home from Disney during Irene last summer and saw how panicked they were. The one woman was showing me the cell phone pictures her daughter was sending her of her house completely flooded and she couldn't get a flight home for 3 more days.
So while I am completely aware that rain isn't something I can control and isn't going to ruin my trip.. I do watch for the purposes of being prepared.

Hey, I was reading this thread, and it made me wonder. What do you do with a wet stroller?

This will be our first time taking my 2 year old, and since we're going 9/1 thu 9/5, I assume we'll see a good bit of rain. We're prepared, but it never occurred to me until now that I might need to know how to deal with a wet stroller.

Any advice on that?
