We just returned from the 3-day Wonder and ended up attending the DVC Member event on embarkation day and learned about the current incentives. We had no intention of adding on points but WERE seriously considering a 7-day cruise next summer. By the time we did the math, it seemed to make sense to buy the add-on and use the incentives to pay for most of the cruise and end up with some good points to use for the future.
I posted the incentives we received for adding onto at AKV while on the cruise in the DVC forum (under DVC Operations> "Special AKV Offer"). But, in case anyone is like me and DIDN'T read the DVC forum before cruising and was blindsided by the add-on deal I decided to cross-post the link here.
As there was some discussion on where you can use the "developer incentive" points I wanted to clarify that I did just book our 7-day cruise for August 1, 2009 and WAS able to use the developer points for this. It will end up costing us $2484 as I am paying cash for my 13-yro and my 7-yro and went with a CAT 6 and taking into consideration the $1000 prepaid Visa we will be receiving in 30 days.
