Hopefully Disney will offer free dining again like they did this December

So many things we could do around our house with that money - but, as we get older, we realize our time together is more precious than anything. Plus, go big or stay home.

How can I get our total lower? stay is for 6 nights. May 15th -21st two adults & 3 kids 15,9 and 5

All Star Music Resort family suite for 5 ppl 2,000
Air fare for 5 ppl 1,750
Park Tickets w/hopper & water 5days 5ppl 1,700
Food 150.00 a day for 5ppl each which is 750
total 6,200

the airfare is the killer. Is there anyway you could drive instead? Would save you a lot of money.

Also another idea. Since you are in a suite, make more meals in your room. We generally have a suite or DVC, so we eat breakfast in our room and either lunch or dinner. We only get a counteer service meal or snack in the parks. This cuts way down on the food costs. I know in the All-Star suites you only get a microwave for cooking, but Stouffer's makes some good food, as well as other frozen foods now like PF Changs. Take-out Pizza is also cheap.

Okay our vacay dates are set in stone. I cannot take the kids out of school because they will get unexcused absences and over 7 of those and the schools call the truancy court. I am very jealous of the prices with the free dining.

April 2 - 8th

2 adults 4 kids (8,8,2,infant)

Port Orleans: French Quarter Standard view room x 2

Regular Dining Plan

6 day park tickets without hoppers or water parks

25% Discount code

I did get trip insurance. *shrugs*

$3,892.42

I am budgetting $6,000 for gas, hotel rooms getting down there and back, tips, money for CS meals for 2 year old, souvenir money, etc. I am probably budgetting high, but I would rather budget high than budget low and spend more than what I was expecting!!

Hi Sarahrip

As mentioned just above your post, staying the in Family Suites adds quite a bit to your total. If you did connecting rooms at ASMu, your total would be closer to $1500 rather than $2000.

Another possibility is to reconsider the park hopper or water park part of your tickets - for the 5 of you, eliminating that would save over $250 for each of those options. To me, park hoppers tend to mean that one is filling their days at the parks, not leaving much time for water parks, but maybe just a dip in their resort pool. Or, keep the water parks option, but lose the park hopper. If you're done with the designated park for the day, head on over to the water park for a couple of hours rather than hopping to one of the other big parks.

We are also a family of 5 - it's not cheap. We've never had a problem getting connecting rooms. We find that we're pooped at the end of the day - no problem with getting the younger ones to sleep even in the same room where others of us may have the TV on. Your family may be different, but the heat and busy-ness of the day to tend to make everyone tired earlier than at home.

Hope these ideas help.

I think... unless you are going for the week after Christmas, you could also spend the extra $250ish per person for a PAP and take the 40ish% off at WL passholder discount plus cover getting into DisneyQuest. Probably a better deal than free dining. Plus you'll get discounts on the minigolf, MVMCP, and I think a tiny discount on La Nouba. Or just buy one PAP, take the discounts, get the 10 day hopper for the second adult, and buy one DQ ticket (or one AP and two DQ tix).

Just something that popped in my head to consider that you probably already have.

My advice: ditch the water park add on. You are paying for tickets to the water parks FOR EACH DAY OF YOUR STAY. Unless you are really gonna make it there every single day, leave it off. You can, when you get to Disney, buy one or two day tickets for the water park. I also find park hoppers silly. I can't imagine trying to jump between parks during a day. It seems like it would take up a bunch of time that I could be enjoying in a park. Some people get them because of their ADRs. Well then try and schedule your ADRs for the park you are going to be in that day then. Example: You are going to spend your day touring the Magic Kingdom. Why not get an ADR for the Crystal Palace?

Disclamier: I have to put that I have only been to Disney as a child. I have yet to go as an adult yet, but I have been throughly planning our trip for 2 years now and this is what advice I have been given.

We still need airfare but trying to find a lower rate than what is out there right now. We also need spending money. So we are assuming another 2000.00 but in that total will include airfare, rental car for a couple days, tips, BBB, rental pack n play and swing, etc.

I hope we got a good deal :)

nixiepixie, yep we are gonna just get a one day water park pass and I think we will go without the park hopper, Thanks

Blondietink, Nope we can't drive, it would take to long to get there and DH only has so many days off and we will be shipping ahead a lot of food, like snacks, noodles and anything and all I can think of to bring with us to make it cheaper to eat. I plan on only one meal and one snack each at the parks per person per day and we have 2 ADR while we are there.Thank you for your help.

2txags Thank you for the tips,we need the ammenties that come with the suites to save on eating out , but I think we may rethink the park hopper though.

Hey NixiePixie....just so you know. It is a flat $54 to add on the WPF&M option to your tickets, regardless of the number of days on your base tickets. Since one visit to a water park is $40+, IF you planned more than one visit to a water park during your trip, you would be much better off to purchase the water park fun and more option for your base ticket. The number of opportunities you have to visit a water park (or Disney Quest) increases with the number of days on your base ticket, but it's still only a $54 increase per ticket.

I still think leaving the option off if you are looking to save $ is a great idea. Lots of fun can be had a the resort pool after a long day in the parks - at NO additional cost.
