Is this a good time to go? What's the weather like? Would we be taking a risk since it's hurricane season? How are the crowds?
Considering making a trip since there are awesome airline deals going on now especially for September.

Thanks for any advice.

There has been mixed reviews on here to whether or not it will be busy. Due to the free dining. But I don't think it is comparable to summer months.

I've heard it will be pretty hot and humid. Hurricanes are always a chance. We are going the end of September.

If you want to go and can do it, then why not?????

Have fun! :bounce:

This is about the best time of year weatherwise to go, especially October. September can still be hot, but October usually features highs in the low 80's and somewhat humid, rather than the tropical feel you have now there. Hurricanes are a risk, but that risk fades greatly in late September and into October. We love going in October, which is why we booked Poly for the first week in October this year!

I think the crowds are light and the weather is great - and since they are offering the free dining again - they must have pretty good availability if they are trying to lure people onto property!

With good airfare and free dining - I think you can't lose!!!

Last year we went 9/29-10/4. It was a wonderful trip crowd wise. We arrived just a few days after hurricane Jeanne. Weather wise it was very, very HOT. We only saw 1 tiny 10 minute sprinkle of rain the entire time. It was a little sad (I felt guilty) being in the area after so much devistation. It really made my heart go out to the CM's and residents.

As for hurricane's-- the season can techinically go 1/2 a year. So, it's just something you will have to take a chance on. Once your trip is upon you, then you'll have to make a decision if there is an immediate threat.

The F&W fest and MNSSHP falls in this range too. Both are really great events.

Weather wise its great. About mid 80s but not so humid. Sept is better then Oct because of all the going ons in Oct makes it more busy.

We've gone in October the last 2 years. We love October at Disney. The weather is great, the hotel prices are good, and the crowds are not usually too bad.

:jumping1:

Go for it and ENJOY!

How do Oct crowds compare to mid-March (spring break) crowds?

oh, Man, we went last October and this past March...Easter wknd. What a difference in crowds! October is so much better. We had CMs telling us that the week we went in March was the busiest next to Christmas Day!

How's that for a hard-sell? HA! I love October!

I'm not crazy enough to go during Spring Break, but know lots of people who have. October crowds are NOTHING like that at all. Our friends just went this past spring and said NEVER again!

For most rides, there was a 5-20 min. wait and the only time last Oct. we waited longer than that was in mid-afternoon (like 3pm) for Big Thunder Mountain RR. We should have just fast-passed it, but we held fast passes for Splash Mountain instead ... hey, we all make mistakes, right ;)

In fact, last October, my daughter and I did a Tower of Terror marathon at MGM. We went on 9 times in a row and only waited less than 5 minutes each time (this was from around 7pm-closing time). We really wanted to make it 10, but I had a serious headache after #9 and told her NO MORE :rolleyes2

I don't wait to make it sound like you don't need a touring plan. You still need to be smart and get there early. Always make use of the less-crowded mornings. The mid-afternoons are still crowded, so we like to do shows, shop, eat a late lunch or go back to the hotel for a mid-afternoon break during the 2-5pm time.

If you time things right, you should not have long waits.

One thing we noted last Oct. was the parking lots were never more than half full. That always seems to be a good indication of crowd size.

ENJOY! ::yes::

Thanks so much. We have been in January and it was wonderful for weather and crowds, and in March 2004 and said never again. This was after my DW, her mom, and our DD went in August and said never again. I read where others say October has "moderate" crowds or "not too bad", so I was trying to get an idea.

I've got a trip in mid September planned and this is my first September trip. From what I've heard crowds are low and temps are still hot (not as hot as summer) so here's hoping no hurricanes and no crowds :)

October is the best time of the year to go! Great weather, low crowds. I cannot get away in October because of work :sad1: , so now I go every September instead. :sunny:
