??? For those who've attended your 20th high school reunion

I went to my 20th with DH, and left him home for my 25th. By the age of 43 (38 for you) you have gained enough confidence to greet people who were total jerks in HS. And though some of the "kids" will never change, it is really great to see what kind of adults the others turned into. I am already looking forward to my 30th.

Don't miss it. The worst scenario is that the people you didn't like haven't changed at all. But you may regret it if you don't go. I skipped my 10th because I hadn't "made" anything of myself yet. How stupid is that?? At least I matured enough by my 20th to go ahead and go.

I was a little nervous, as my "old flame" was going to be there... we hadn't seen each other in 17 years. We were "the" couple in a very small class (99), and dated through three years of HS and three years of college.
But it was terrific! And especially my DH, who gets a lifetime award for charm and manners. I knew I married him for a reason!

First, DH acts like he knows a couple of my old girlfriends.. you could see them trying to place him... I had to explain that no, he didn't graduate with us, he's my husband trying to be funny.

Then the old flame shows up with his lovely wife. We get a chance to say "hello" and my DH greets him with a warm handshake and a "you must be ***, I've heard a lot about you from my in-laws" (parents loved the old flame). We get to talk for awhile alone, and it was the nicest conversation about our families. Nothing about us. That is old history! But it was terrific to see how happy he is and be assurred that we made the right decision a long time ago.

Sorry for the long post, but it was an experience worth remembering!:sunny:

I enjoyed my high school years, but for me, when it was over, it was really over. There were one or two HS buddies I stayed in touch with, but I never attended the reunions. I have heard from many people who go to their reunions and seemed to have a really good time:D

And I thought things were bad in my school... Well, in our yearbook, guess who had the most photos? The yearbook editor. The next to the most photos? Her best friend. I don't think you can get anymore obvious than that. I have three things in my favor... I don't look exactly the same-I look better. I honestly don't care where anyone is their lives-my life is long from over and I'm exactly where I want and need to be right now (in grad school with a 4.0). The last thing I have in my favor is that I want to go and have a good time, regardless of what everyone else does. 20 year reunion here I come.

My $0.02 - I've been to all 4 of mine, 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th. 5th - still in college; 10th - pregnant - not really showing - had just lost a bunch of weight, SWEET; 15th - waste of time, 13 class members. The 20th however, was a blast. Small (I think I've got you all beat, 67 in our class and that's for the county school LOL) class and good friend from high school was so disappointed in turnout at 15th, she didn't want to even plan, but kept getting asked at small hometown so she threw one together pretty quickly. Asked me when I could be in for a visit so I felt obligated to go, so glad I did. Plans were started for 25th that night. Wow, that'll be 2006!

BTW, DH did not go with me. It was okay, he'd have been bored and I didn't feel like I had to keep looking over my shoulder to check in on him.

Go and have fun

I missed my 35th last year back in Indiana, but several of my classmates who live here in AZ went and had a grand time......so good they told everybody to come to AZ for a visit. So this past March 17 of us spent a weekend together and had THE BEST TIME! It was an interersting mix....a cheerleader, two football players, a 'shop' geek, a couple of 'brains' and a handful of just us 'regular kids' (?). A couple of the people were kids I had hung out with, several were people I'd barely knew, but we had so much fun finding out what everyone had done with their lives. And it was fun to see how much some people really don't change, even though they've got no hair and a lot of wrinkles!
