For those who think only DISers hate FP+, check their Facebook page

I don't think they are ever going to stop calling it a test.

The banner ad that I just saw said (paraphrasing)-- Imagine reserving a teacup :rotfl2: from home. Stay in a "select" Disney resort and be part of our test. I thought they would stop calling it a test when they removed all legacy FP machines, but apparently not.

I find it funny that this still the wording about magic bands on Disney's website.

MagicBands are coming soon.

MagicBands are currently being tested by a limited number of pre-selected Guests. Due to the nature of the test, we are unable to accommodate requests to participate.

I suppose it will be called a test until the bitter end, because that's a better answer to give to someone who is having major issues than "Sorry sir/ma'am, our system sucks".

Also, Magic Bands really are being given to a preselected group of guests, all the resort guests. Eventually everyone is supposed to have them.

Except off-site guest. So it seems the only ones that haven't gotten their "promised" magic bands are AP holders that haven't had an on-site stay.

I am really surprised at the level of negative feedback.

While I certainly never thought it was -just- DISers who have problems with the system, and yes, some people have bluntly said its just a vocal minority of people -here- that have these issues, I did think that the representation of the negative side here would be more pronounced than in a more public forum ... I am surprised at just how wide spread the negative appraisal is.

I am surprised that so many people are aware enough of the systems, and the changes, and how it will effect their trip, to come on and post accurate and honest negative opinions about the system.

This does not look good for the Mouse ...

I'm pretty sure offsite guests are testing with MB now (a small number of them). I think I've read that offsite guests will have the ability to buy them.

They are testing FP+ but they don't have MBs. And being able to purchase them doesn't meant that they will, so Disney will have no control over all guest having MBs unless they start only selling tickets in MB form.

I think that "locked-in" commercial really captures how blind they are being here. People don't like to feel locked-in. Even if they are really locking themselves in anyway with all of the planning that goes into WDW...no one wants to think they are being locked in. Especially on vacation! Locked-in is what we do all year, with school and work and everything else.

Disney was very successful with Magical Express...and the goal there was also to lock people in by kidnapping them at the airport ;) But it worked, because you were giving people something.

They should have just got the bands for room keys, tickets and charging.

You're misunderstanding me. I'm not talking about the test everyone is participating in, I'm talking about a smaller test that has offsite guests testing MDE and Bands.

I'm not saying they will purchase them, I'm just responding to the comment that it still says MB are being tested by selected guests only. They technically are. Everyone who will have the opportunity to purchase them in the future cannot currently do so.

There are off-site guest that have been given bands?? I haven't seen anything about that. My understanding were they were using their cards to make book FP+s the day of. Is the Swan and Dolphin resorts that are being given bands?

I don't think that's been said anywhere.

I don't know exactly what you're discussing,
but MagicBands have been touted as to be able to be purchased by anyone
once the new system is fully on-line.

No one at Disney has said that FP+ choices (or extra FP+ choices) will be available for purchase.

Regardless, they can make changes, one way or the other, at any time.

Hey..... that's kind of catchy.

Or maybe they could call it "limited magic time".

Too true - along with "Limited Tiered Magic"

I don't think they are ever going to stop calling it a test.

And I think it's fair to continue to call it a test - a "test" of patience for everyone participating, or watching the commercials......:)

All I'm saying is while it is fairly annoying that they are calling this a test when it's clearly here to stay, there are still some aspects that are currently not rolled out yet so they technically are not wrong when they word it how they are.

Notice I did not say everyone will be given an opportunity to purchase bands, we do not necessarily know that for sure although it can be speculated especially given what is said in articles like the one I posted. What we do know is that not all groups who will be able to get them in the future can currently get them now.

Even offsite guests are supposed to be able to purchase them eventually...at least that's what tom staggs said last year in a comment.on the Disney parks blog

We're really close to the upcoming earnings calls and analysts' calls for the completed quarter. We should expect some detailed questions around all of this - especially how off-site fits in and if purchase of FP's is in the future plans as an option. There's enough info and comments out there now (like this Facebook stuff) for the analysts to get very specific with their questions.

It's going to be a must listen...

How long was Gmail a beta product even after it was widely rolled out?

In reality many in-production systems are in one form of testing or another for months or years until they are done being tweaked. I know of some SAP implementations that took upwards of 5 years to be fully rolled out and out of testing.

I suspect this will be a product that is both fully rolled out and still in testing mode for a few years while they look at the data and make adjustments to the customer-facing portion of the project which is really only a small part of the overall project.
