I am currently in the process of planning a day trip to Hershey Park for my girl scout troop. Our group can buy meal tickets to eliminate the need for cash for $13.00!!! :scared1: For that you get a sandwich, fries and a 32 ounce souvenir drink.

My meal at Pecos Bills cost me $8-9.00 for the same thing.

I never thought Disney CS prices were that high, but now I think they're actually low!

I've had a few of those moments myself... The most recent was at Kalahari Resort, paying something stupid like $6 for an ice cream sundae from their candy shop, I actually thought to myself "I know this is less than $4 at WDW because its a snack credit!" :rotfl:

Yeah, I totally agree. I just got a mediocre sandwich at Cosi and paid $11 for a sandwich, chips, and a cookie (no drink).

Ever been to a sports event? You get a steroid pumped hot dog for like 6 bucks there. New York City? A 20 oz bottle of soda is 2.25 there. Yes, they jack up prices in theme parks BECAUSE THEY CAN... but I don't think they're *that* unreasonable. I don't go on vacation so save money.

I have really never thought WDW cs was expensive...I think most people aren't used to buying B,L,D for 6-7 days in a row and when they add it up it seems $$. When I'm at home I always compare the prices we pay to those at WDW and it comes out much cheaper at WDW. But, I live in a tourist area so that maybe a difference.

Not trying to start an argument, but Just wondering how your meal is only $8-9 .00 at Pecos Bill? The cheapest thing is a Vege Burger at $6.79 and that doesn't include a drink. Sandwich's (pork or chicken wrap ) are $8.59 add in small drink(only 12 oz) $2.19 and tax it comes to $11.53. while it is $1.47 cheaper you are getting 20 oz of drink less and no souvenir cup.

They also have other entrees besides sandwhiches that you can choose from. Last time we used the meal plan we got a hot pasta meal.

I agree though that compared to Hershey Disney food is not all that badly priced. That being said the meal plan at Hershey is not a bad deal and is definately the way to go for food there rather than buying a meal at full price.

An alternative to buying any food in the park would be to ask each of your girls to bring a packed lunch and eat it at the picnic tables outside of the park. They have picnic tables in the stadium area next to the parking lot. You will not be able to bring it into the park however so you will need to go back to the car to get it at lunch time.

I always have this conversation with people who have not been to Disney. Counter service is not a large expense. Snacks either. My husband and I often take our kids to amusement parks, day trips to museums, sporting events etc and we are always saying how much it is to eat everywhere.. It is no more at Disney than at any of these. It is comparable or better than many places we have been to for the same type of food.

Even though they are not owned and operated by WDW the best counter service location in terms of cost has to be Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney Marketplace, because their prices are very fair. Plus if you are a member of AAA/CAA you get 15% off just by showing them your card when you pay for your food.

Most everything at WDW is expensive plain and simple. They have a captive audience unless u have a car and want to leave to eat.

San Diego SeaWorld was my "hmm, Disney isn't so bad after all" place. SO much money for such NASTY food...

I won't say that WDW cs meals are not expensive, because they are. But comparing it to other tourist locations it is not all that bad. I stayed at Atlantis in the Bahama's and could not believe the price of food at that place. Just a bottle of water was $10.

I'm sure Disney has alot higher volume though. Maybe they could save us a few $$ since they are shoveling food out to the masses. But yeah, some places are really expensive when you are in tourist traps.

Still better then trying to eat at the San Diego Zoo!!! We were there Halloween weekend and hardly anything was open and the stuff we tried to eat was HORRIBLE!

I think Disney could charge a lot more for their TS food then they do. Even their drinks are not that bad. I can get a soda for under 3 bucks! I normally pay around 2.50 for a soda anywhere I go. Of course I think their food is way overpriced in the everyday world, but as far as themepark food goes, it isn't that bad! I also love that I can bring my own food and drinks into the parks. I bring water bottles and snacks for dd. Last summer I went to the local waterpark with one of my friends. They wouldn't allow me to bring my coke in that I had just bought from the vending machine outside their gates! They also were trying to tell my friend she couldn't bring in a bottle of water that she planned on using for her infants formula bottle! We had to get a manager who wouldn't allow me to bring my soda in, but did allow her to bring her baby's water. I am just saying, if they wanted, disney could charge more for their food, and say a big fat "no" to outside food and beverages.

I think the cs is reasonable at WDW. Particularly at the resorts, the food courts in particular. I mean we split a pasta bowl at the POR food court between 2-3 of us. I also think the parks have some great options, the shrimp basket at Columbia Harbor House comes to mind. The portions are almost always large enough to share.

To me its the cs, the all you can eat/buffets in particular. Thanks to holiday pricing, I guestimate our dinner at Ohana in June will run us $190 for our family of four. Still on the fence about that one.

Other TS, is very reasonable. I just booked GF Cafe because it looks very good and its very reasonable.

I LOVE EoS! Thanks for the AAA hint! Their sides (potato salad and slaw) and desserts (yummy cupcake coronets!) are under $2. What a steal!

We went to Sea World a couple of years ago and I thought their food was very expensive for what you get. It was over $40 for lunch for 2 adults, 2 kids. The kids' meals were a hotdog and bag of chips in a Shamu lunchbox, and a small drink, and were something like $7 each. I think Disney's kids' meals are very reasonable at about $4-5.

We've also been to a regional amusement park a few hours from home, and again, it's over $40 for the four of us. At Disney, the four of us eat for around $30.
