For those who think Disney is overpriced for CS

We stay at a timeshare so we get to eat a lot of meals cheap. We do not get the true add up effect of meal after meal in the parks. We do eat a couple of TS meals per trip and a few CS.

If you look at pure price, sure Disney is not cheap. We are a family of 3, and you know that bigger familes have a different take.

But comparing to vacation/fun spots Disney CS is not that bad. Most CS are decent enough food. We always get plenty to eat. Like others have said you go to a ball game, zoo, musuem and other places and it can get crazy.

Not a theme park but I paid $7 for a popcorn not in souvenier container at Disneys Toy Story on ice last month. Now that is over priced!!

Disney actually has the same kind of deal if you are buying tickets through their youth services and I think it is also $13 for the meal ticket from them.

Ever since last summer when I visited a local amusement park, and payed for ridiculously overpriced and terrible food, I like Disney's CS even more. Especially since I know the places I like to eat and what food I enjoy.

Have you guys been to the movies lately? Man what a racket that is!! $4.50 for sm or med drink and $5.00 for frickin PopCorn?? and no refills on either. No wonder my mom still "sneaks" in her snacks :rotfl:

I am currently in the process of planning a day trip to Hershey Park for my girl scout troop. Our group can buy meal tickets to eliminate the need for cash for $13.00!!! :scared1: For that you get a sandwich, fries and a 32 ounce souvenir drink.

Don't you even get a Hershey bar????:scared1:

Disney's meal vouchers are 15 and include a combo meal a drink and a desert. If you price out a normal meal you almost break even with the deal but generally you will lose money on the deal.

I happen to be on the Food Porn thread the other night and my fiance saw a picture of one of the double cheeseburgers from MK. He couldn't believe the size of it and for what we are going to be paying for the DDP, we both figured out that we will be getting our money's worth on our meals. We've been to the Philadelphia Zoo, spent most of this past summer at the Camden River Sharks, and go to Wildwood every year for the fireman's convention and probably spend about the same as we would in Disney. The only difference is that we will be getting more food for our money in Disney. We always leave the other places hungry.

I've been saying this for years. I think it all depends on where you are from and what other places you have been. As others have said if you've ever been to any sporting event, we are in NE, you come away thinking that WDW is a bargain. I have never found Disney's prices to be any more than at any other "resort/event/concert/etc."

Enjoy The Magic!!

I think where you live can determine what you think is expensive - we live in Chicago and often pay more than Disney for meals at local museums/zoos/etc. (plus we have such high sales tax here) Another plus with Disney is that when we eat counter service, the surroundings are nicer and usually much much cleaner than the local tourist trap! Everytime I'm forced to clean off a table at the zoo, I wish I was in Disney (well, I always wish I was in Disney...)

Part of the reason we love going to WDW for random, not-so-planned trips is that we can get out of there for fairly cheap.

DH and I can spend less than 40$ a day TOTAL and both eat a lot of great food at the CS locations. DH is a black hole, so if we weren't constantly feeding him we would probably get out cheaper! lol

40$ a day total seems high at first thought, but we hit up other amusement parks, zoos, and other day trips - we can't eat all meals for both of us that cheaply anywhere else.

Sure, CS at WDW is expensive if you're comparing it to... say... McDonalds. But that is comparing apples to oranges. CS is actually quite affordable compared to other theme parks, which is how you should compare.

Agree 100%

AND, when you pay for a day at a Disney park, it is a full day with tons of stuff to do. Other entertainment venues you pay for one show, game, etc. and get a couple of hours of fun at most.

One of my daughters went to NYC with a friend for a weekend and still, two years later, talks about the $8 bowl of oatmeal she ate there:rolleyes:

I dont think the CS stuff is overpriced at all.....the prices everywhere are getting crazy!

$18.50 - La Cantina - Epcot C/S - for Tacos, Churro, Drink. :upsidedow

But for many the difference withthe prices at WDW and other venues is that you are only at most other venues for a short period of time and can avoid the cost if you choose. At WDW many are "locked" for days or even weeks without an alternative. Overall I agree tht food prices at WDW CS are fair for theme park food, but if I were feeding my family of 4 or 6 or more for a week or two I might not agree.

Overall I find the prices for WDW CS fair.... living on Long Island the prices for McDonald's or Burger King are pretty similar...but at WDW you get a lot more food. I know if I get a burger at Pecos Bills it is much more than any burger at McD's or BK....

As someone said - the prices for movie theater food are insane... I gave up buying popcorn and a soda as I did not want to remortgage my house to have it! Disney is tame by comparison.

Unlike most anyplace else, Disney allows you to bring your own food into the parks. So you still do have an alternative to paying their prices for food every day.

This is true for any vacation where you don't get some sort of accommodations with a cooking area.

If you go to Hawaii for a week and stay at just a regular hotel, you have to plan to eat all your meals out.

Its just part of budgeting for a vacation. At least for WDW people post the menus and the prices.

I was pulling my hair out trying to plan a short trip to Bush Gardens Williamsburg because I didn't know exactly what was available and how much it cost. We had to actually read the menus posted outside. :scared1:

In Toronto the cost for a bottle of Coca Cola or other Coke products from a machnine at the movie theater is $4.75 which is insane. Plus the movie theaters also have various fast food locations in them like Burger King or Pizza Hut. So I decided to purchase something from Burger King and when I went to order a Whopper combo I was told they don't sell the combos, everything needs to be ordered separately. I said forget it and went to purchase something from the food court in the mall that the theater was located at. I only wanted Burger King since there wasn't one located in the mall food court. The thing about that which I found to be most odd is that the Burger King inside the theater listed the combo prices so why don't they sell them like that if they are being advertised?
