Reminds me of BLT when it opened. Several low floor TPV rooms could not see the castle. CMs told us we could see Space Mountain so it's TPV. Fortunately, so many had complained before our stay, they agreed to move us to a higher floor.
That experience left us bitter. It's why we haven't stayed BLT TPV since.
FWIW, I would absolutely be bitter just like you over that Island Tower room being called TPV. It's why I believe Disney needs to follow the BLT model. Reclassify those ridiculous rooms. Yes, it means adjusting point charts slightly, but it's the right thing to do.
I feel sorry for the CMs. Disney will need to justify the cash paying guest paying thousands more for TPV and receiving what is called a preferred view room everywhere else at Polynesian.
. When this particular studio costs more than some 1BRs, they should expect some backlash when the view isn't what was paid for. They never did make it up to me, and to be honest I would have rather have kept the 39 points I spent on this studio since it's not like I really NEEDED the room since I live about 15-20 minutes from MK. And I agree with you, I feel for the CMs that have to deal with it.
