For those who own at Poly or BLT (or both)

I'm still bitter over my "theme park view" studio at Poly tower.
Reminds me of BLT when it opened. Several low floor TPV rooms could not see the castle. CMs told us we could see Space Mountain so it's TPV. Fortunately, so many had complained before our stay, they agreed to move us to a higher floor.

That experience left us bitter. It's why we haven't stayed BLT TPV since.

FWIW, I would absolutely be bitter just like you over that Island Tower room being called TPV. It's why I believe Disney needs to follow the BLT model. Reclassify those ridiculous rooms. Yes, it means adjusting point charts slightly, but it's the right thing to do.

I feel sorry for the CMs. Disney will need to justify the cash paying guest paying thousands more for TPV and receiving what is called a preferred view room everywhere else at Polynesian.

I feel like they just assumed anything facing the lagoon is a theme park view when clearly it's not. Extremely lazy on their part to not do a walk through of each room and verify the room view before getting a bunch of angry guests like myself. Anybody who isn't blind would be able to tell that the room I got isn't a theme park view. Well, technically this room that I was given was handicap accessible so maybe they were hoping for that but 🤦‍♂️ . When this particular studio costs more than some 1BRs, they should expect some backlash when the view isn't what was paid for. They never did make it up to me, and to be honest I would have rather have kept the 39 points I spent on this studio since it's not like I really NEEDED the room since I live about 15-20 minutes from MK. And I agree with you, I feel for the CMs that have to deal with it.

I had this experience on my last stay at Poly Tower. Put us on the ground floor 1bdrm "TPB" facing GF... ***? I went back to check in (at the Tower) and complained - they moved us up to much higher floor facing the Pool, which is a preferred view and refunded the point difference to me.

But, from the preferred view balcony room I just looked to the left and could see the MK fireworks and Bay lake, and if I look straight ahead I was watching the Epcot fireworks with the new Pool below me. Win! That preferred view was better than the ground floor nonsense room and might be better than some upper floor TPV rooms.

CM manager told me that DVD is reclassifying several lower floor room categories to align with actual views like they did at BLT, but the timing for that is the end of 2026.... LOL. I guess it's luck of the draw until then.

I wish they had done that with me, they said they had nothing else and not even rooms in BLT available to switch to. They ended up giving me 300 dollars so basically the equivalent of 15 points but yeah.. I was not a happy camper. The salt in the wound was it was handicap accessible and I had deliberately waited to shower at Poly tower instead of just showering at home after going to Blizzard Beach earlier that day. I also had requested a high floor and not handicap since we had previously received like 2 handicap rooms in a row.. I will say they did quite a good job of giving us the exact opposite of what we wanted.

Thrilled to hear this. (Wish it was sooner)

In October, DW gave me a hard time for wanting to buy a guaranteed week TPV room. She said if so many people are unhappy with the rooms not really being TPV, that we would have wasted our money.

It was something I couldn’t disagree with.

Our initial stay was during grand opening. I forget which floor we had, but believe it was top floor for that section.

I will say, the rooms with truly good TPV are worth it to me. (YMMV. We are in the latter stages of DVC buying with plenty of points, hundreds of rope drops behind us. We now relax and take our time at Disney. We know we will be back again soon.)
