For those who love The Parks and DCL...

We love longer cruises so try for every other year and will be on transatlantic this May. We are going down after school on Thursday night and will spend all day Friday at WDW before cruising on Saturday. Right now we have a 6 night trip planned the week after Thanksgiving since I refuse to do the parks when they are crowded and it's a 100 degrees. Our last long stay at the parks was 2 years ago so it has been awhile.

It varies. For us, before 1998, we were die hard parks fans. Loved WDW and would go at least once or twice a year. When I heard about Disney coming out with a cruise line I was so excited as I had always wanted to cruise but never did. We booked the Maiden Voyage of the Disney Magic 18 months in advance and it was so popular they had to do a lottery to pick guests for that first cruise. We were lucky to be picked. Well, the rest is history. I was hooked! Our whole family now loves DCL more than WDW as it is so much more relaxing. Been on many, many DCL cruises since then but still like to go to WDW so I try to add at least a night or two or three before or after our cruises.

At the end of January we did a WDW only trip and it was so hard for me not to be going on a cruise as well. I was tempted to drive to the port just to see the ship leave!!!

In 2015 we added one night pre cruise at Disneyland as I had not been there in a very long time.

So, I was wondering..for those of you who love both (and I'm sure that's many since this is, afterall DISboards!:)) how do you typically divide up your time between DCL and WDW? Do you tend to do a shorter length cruise and combine with the parks? Do you do a cruise one year and WDW the next?

Yes.

Yes.

Basically, all different combinations:

. WDW for 2-4 days, then 7 day cruise;
. WDW for 2-4 days, then 7 day cruise, then WDW 2-4 days;
. 10-12 day cruise Europe
. 7 day cruise, then WDW for 7 days
. 6-9 days WDW.

Esssentially, whatever we feel like doing any particular year, sometimes based strictly on what we want to do, other times based on schedule. This year we're doing Disneyland and then Aulani. Each is different. Each is good.

We like to combine parks and cruises as well. It's ridiculous for us to fly all the way across the country for a 7 day cruise. We almost always spend an extra 4-5 days in FL and do parks or whatever. We like Disneyland much better so 3-4 days at WDW is plenty for me. Usually focus on just a couple parks each trip. Last year was MK and Epcot, next year we will go back for at least one day to see Pandora at AK.

This year we did a 10 day non-DCL cruise so didn't stay longer in FL. We are going back to Disneyland next month for our park fix and to keep our streak of doing "something" Disney each year going, lol.

Same here as PP. Flying in for just a week is not making good use of the airfare we pay. Basically whenever I cruise, I must visit nearby places before or after the cruise.

We seem to extend our stay in FL more and more. Sorry to say this, but our love for the dark side has grown over the years. This August we are staying a week at Universal, a week on the Fantasy and 9 days at WDW. At first I wanted just a cruise and 4 days at UO and a week at WDW. Then Food and Wine started early and possible early MNSSHPs. I can't pass up the chance to experience these and extended the stay.
