Is it only because of the location, or do you like the interior of the rooms? I am seriously considering DVC and love the boardwalk/beach club area. I have never stayed at either, but have stayed at swan and dolphin several times on a teacher discount. Right now it looks like there are some good bwv resales out there. But when I did the BWV 360 tour on the website....let's just say my tastes differ on the decorating. Does it look better IRL?

My family enjoys bwv and bcv. Really great location. Like walking to epcot for dinner. Its all about the food for us.

I love the boardwalk area and the boardwalk view. I agree the rooms are kind of bland. It was the second DVC resort and they put more work into the detail of the later resorts.

Location, walk to Epcot, closeness to other resorts including Swan and Dolphin.

I do like the decor but after staying at AKV last week and than moving to BWV, AKV seemed so much updated and new. Most have been the flat screen tv's! Hate the long hallways at BWV but definately easy to get around, I kept getting lost at AKV.

I think the decor is pretty much what you see in the pictures. We like it just fine. Tastes can vary, of course. But we like the theming and decor of BWV.

Another big advantage to owning at BWV is the lower point Standard View rooms. All the advantage of the great location with a lower point schedule. These rooms can be challenging to book without owning there at many times of the year.

You can't go wrong with either BWV or BCV...if room decor is really important to you, I'd suggest reviewing as many pictures of the rooms as you can and see which you prefer. Good luck! :)

The decor and the ambiance are some of the main reasons we love BWV so much! Plus the proximity to Epcot is a huge draw for me since it's my favorite park (besides MK of course!).

I love the bright, beachy vibe of both BW and BC.

We did a split stay on our last visit. It was our first stay at AKV. The room was beautiful but.....I much prefer the location of BWV and BCV. The rooms there are fine. Like others....the boardwalk view is great....as is the price for the standard view. We have dinner, most nights, at Epcot...as I said ....location, location.

I suggest that you rent some points and stay at each resort. You will be spending some serious money on your purchase and it makes sense to experience the resorts first hand.

Asking opinions on the DIS is a mixed bag. Your will have members who love BWV and BCV and think that they are beautifully decorated. Others, liked yourself may have different tastes.

Remember, buying a DVC contract isn't like buying shoes. You can't take it back if it doesn't fit.

everyone has differing tastes...........
but why we prefer BWVs over any other:

~ there are so many activities literally at your fingertips (street performers, dining, two parks, arcade games, shopiing, surrey bikes/watercraft, mini-golf, great pool with LHL that serves yummy drinks, & in our many experiences, doesn't get overly crowded, as well as a myriad of quiet things to do (walks, reading by the "quiet pool", community hall). some of my personal fave things to do there are sitting in a rocking chair off the lobby & reading, walking over to EPCOT just for a grey goose slushie, laying by the quiet pool :lovestruc .
~ the best views in all of WDW, in our opinion (watching illuminations from a BW view balcony is nothing short of amazing:cloud9: )
~ the decor is elegant without being snobby, fun without being garish

we own at SSR (absolutely love the resort, but a bit of a hike for mostly park trips), & BCV (common areas, halls & poll are simply waaaaay too noisy & busy for us, pool is too similar to loud & wall-to-wall crowded public pools for our tastes).

for us, the best of WDW is the boardwalk, the parks actually come in a close second

I love BWV....don't own there but doing another split stay with WLV next month.

I really did like the rooms.....my studio felt roomy and the kitchenette was bigger than I thought. I liked the "look" of the french doors to the balcony...looks real nice. A little tricky keeping the curtains in the room though;)
BWV felt the most "upscale" to me out of all the DVC's. I really liked the pool area.....feels very disney...looking at the nice part of the Swolfin and Tower of Terror.

If you have kids...you can sit at a nice table and never lose sight of the kids going on the slide 100x.

Great restaurants at your doorsteps and within walking distance. Walk to epcot and mgm.
I say stay there and see for yourself:goodvibes

We like BWV for the same reasons. People often tend to "fall in love" with a certain resort - for whatever reason - and for us, it was BWV. We love the Boardwalk itself and all its sights and sounds, the boats, shops, (the bakery!), restaurants and activities. It feels like an extension of the two parks that flank it, and there's a feeling of being in the thick of things - while still retaining a relaxed atmosphere. BWV has problems like any resort (long hallways, not enough elevators), but for us the pluses far outweigh the shortcomings. We love it. We DO feel like we're "home" when we're there.

Wow, better than the parks?! I have really enjoyed the ambiance outside the boardwalk and love walking the circle. I also love the close proximity . So... maybe I can get over that floral sofa! I personally love the interior of AKL and could see myself owning there as well. But then again, no walking distance to any parks. I have considered renting points, but honestly it seems to be too much of a hassle and too much risk for me personally.

I think the photos are indeed pretty accurate - if anything, the decor is MORE when you are in it because photographers really try and make the rooms feel big - and when you are there they are not as big as they look in the 360 tours.

I dislike the SSR decor and combined with other factors - it isn't my resort. I love the VWL, but at the time, the BWV resale was a better financial fit for us. We LOVE the location, LOVE the point value on the Standard View rooms, LIKE the pool slide, the Bellevue room, the public areas, including the porch, the restaurants that are right there....and if the decor isn't ideal - at least the couch is better looking (IMHO) than the one over at BCVs. (The shower curtain may, however, make your eyes bleed).

I also enjoy the enternaiment thats there. I also will never forget the look on my inlaws face when they sawthe view from last trip. We never ask for room choices our last stay there we got the 2 rooms just over where they had the DVC sales office. The view was nice and my inlaws enjoy the balcony during that stay.

Hi: We waited for BWV- we weren't thrilled with OKW location in 93. That being said, we have enjoyed stays at OKW; but we still absolutely love our BWV. The location cannot be beat IMO. There's just so much available there. We've also stayed at other DVC resorts and enjoyed them for themselves. We do wind up comparing them to BWV. I don't even mind the decor; we're too busy enjoying the company of friends and family to worry about that. Yes the hallways can be long, but the stairs can cut your travel time down too. Just an opinion.

Wow, better than the parks?!

yup ~ the pic on my cel is of the boardwalk entrance (the other pic i use is taken from a BW view room).

sitting on a BW view balcony with your SO, sipping wine, watching & listening to the BW activity while illuminations bursts in the background........does life get any better? :cloud9:

We fell in love with BW for so many reasons. Definitely for the rooms, the decor - we love it - it's light and airy and homey all at the same time, but just as much for the location, and the boardwalk, the dining, the atmosphere, the nighttime happenings, the proximity to the parks, etc. Beach Club is nice but we don't like the building being "away" from the center of everything. Between the two, for us it's hands down the BW.

I am also looking into purchasing at BWV, but the rooms looks old and worn. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the newly refurbished rooms at BWI. It looks Victorian, but not over the top. Does anyone know if and when they might be planning on refurbishing the inside of the BWV's????

Thanks.

anyone have recent pics of bw rooms? all this talk of worn out rooms, i was there a few months ago, our room was in tip top shape. i can't imagine with the dues we pay it could possibly be so worn out. i'll be there again in 3 weeks and i'm hoping to have a beautiful room (again)
