DH and I are staying in conc. AKL in February. We are signed up fort eh sunrise safari. I will be a little over 3 months pregnant at the time. I know pregnant women are cautioned not to ride the regular safari ride. How different is the sunrise safari ride? I know it's longer. Is it slower, less bumpy? Anyone been on it while pregnant?

I aint no doctor, but three months really isn't THAT pregnent.

It was definitely slower than the normal ride, but that was due to longer stops rather than slower driving...maybe a little slower driving, but not really. I think Disney puts signs up everywhere to avoid law suits, I don't think it would be a problem.

I am not that good at math, but if you are going to be three months in feburary, are you just hoping? Did you just find out?

Here's hoping with you, if its the former, and congratulations if it the latter.

Actually we just found out a few days ago. I figured Disney wanted to be extra careful and I know that there are several rides that state pregnant women should not ride them. I'm sure it depends on how pregnant you are (too much pressure from the seat belt, too bumpy, likely to cause you to be sick, etc.) I was just trying to figure out the reason behind the caution for this ride. DH and I really want to go, but I also don't want to risk the baby's health either.

Silly questions: Do you have to stay at the AKL concierge to take the Sunrise Safari or is it for "concierge" guests of any Disney hotel? Thanks--

Reneedisney: Unfortunately Sunrise Safari is only for guests staying at AKL concierge. :(

Thank you! I guess I'll have to stay at AKL soon, b/c Sunrise Safari sounds like fun! :) Happy Holidays....

LizL,

Hi! Congrats! I'm in the same boat as you, well almost...I'll be about 4 months when we arrive next week at Disney and I was wondering about the safari too. Someone on Deb's Unofficial site (checkout the Tips for Pregnant moms!) said they rode this, but asked to sit up front that it was a little less bumpy. I'm not sure, but I think I might try it. Like my friends keep telling me...could it be any worse than the highways?? I've done it before and don't really remember it being that bad, have you rode it before? Have you talked to your doc about it? Just curious! Well, if I ride it I'll let you know in a couple of weeks!

Good luck!
