Could you please be so kind as to post when your last trip to Disney World was and/or how often you go? I'm hoping to get an idea as to who it is they're sending the codes to.

I can't figure out their reasoning any other way.

I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it. I was told by a CM yesterday it is a random thing and to spend time online at disney.com to get more offers.

But to answer your question our last trip was in October 2006.

I have to agree with piglet -
I really don't think that there is any rhyme or reason. I don't think they necessarily target newbies, or veterans, or those who are not booked to go, etc. It's the proverbial crapshoot.

We last visited Disney in 10/06 and we booked our 9/07 trip THE MORNING AFTER returning in October (we were literally booked and deposit was paid by 9am the morning after we got back!) - so there no need to try and entice us back with a code. We were going back regardless.

You can see from my siggy that we are not regulars like you - though I think we're on that path now. Last year was our first onsite visit, and we clearly are hooked. I've been following your posts and agree with you...Disney should make some effort to "reward" their regulars...it's probably not the wisest business move to make, but it does seem like the nice thing to do.

I did not get the recent code. The only time I received a pin code was when I had not been in 18 months. I had last gone in 5-05 and did not return until 12-06. I called the day the AP rates came out for 12-06, but did not call until that night. The CM could not believe I got the AP rate--said he had been yelled at all day because no AP rate at POFQ. I booked 2 rooms and did not pay any attention to the price. Three days later I got the email for the PIN code. Checked my ressies online and sure enough--I was booked with a PIN code. I called back about 2 months later and was able to get the AP rate, whick was only $5 cheaper per night per room. I agree that very frequent visitors do not get the code. I work with a lady that stayed at CBR one time about 10 years ago. She gets postcards about 2-3 times a year. Disney knows how to lure people back!!!

Last trip was Dec'06....had a trip booked for Aug'07 with bounceback already.

Had 5 trips in '06 and average 3-5 a year.

I really don't think there is a rhyme or reason to it.

We are booked for a trip starting this Friday. My parents are booked under our address, just to simplify things. The postcard came for my father at our address. He has only been twice before in the past 20 years, or so, and this is the first time that his name has been associated with our address.

My husband and I are fairly frequent visitors (1-2x/yr.), and I have not received a postcard with my name on it for quite a few years.

If you figure out how to get a postcard, please let us all know!

DH & I go once a year. On my main email, I've only gotten about 2 codes since I first signed up for that email account (which was 5 yrs ago). On an old email account (which I keep for various purposes), I get 3-5 codes a year....the most recent being January 5th. The odd thing is that my account through disney.com does show my correct email address and I have never "double registered" or signed up for anything else with my old email. Oddly enough, it wasn't until I updated my email address to my current one that I started getting all the pin codes at my old email address. My DH has two email addresses as well...he's never received a pin code.

I was starting to wonder if only those receiving pin codes are non AP holders. But, dawgsgirl, you have an AP and received a post card/email?

Good point. I had previously had an AP, but it expired and I did not renew. So, I did not have the AP when I got the PIN code. I bought the AP for the 12-06 trip. You might be on to something here!

We have visited WDW 3 times, most recently in Dec/06. We do not stay on property. I received the 40% off code in regular mail, and I have booked POR for next Dec.

I do have an AP and got a postcard. As well most of my stays are booked with a TA rate.

I've been to WDW once every year since 2001. A few of the trips I had and AP while for others I purchased tickets at the gate and / or at the Disney store. I've never gotten any kind of code - via postcard or email - for the resorts.

Having said that, I have previously received, twice, postcards for a Disney Cruise. :confused3 I've never taken a cruise, Disney or otherwise, ever in my life. Maybe it's a hint. :)

We're in the same boat (no pun intended.) I've received many special offers for the cruise line and DVC. Sadly, I have no interest at this time in either of those.

Now an offer for a cruise is what I'd like...perhaps that would finally convince DH to take one.

The CM I spoke w/ yesterday said it's done by the website. The marketing company they're using has "triggers" depending on what you click on that will make you pop to them. I was told to play on the site a lot.

Course, that may have just be her making a marketing ploy to get me on the site more often!!

That's probably true about the market ploy. Talk to 7 different CMs, you'll get 7 different theories....I've heard several, myself, from different CMs. My DH goes on the Disney site frequently every week and yet he's never received a pin code. Me, on the other hand? I rarely get on the Disney site (and when I do, it's with my current email log in) and yet I get pin codes a few times a year (sent to my old email).

My husband just got a code of 40 percent off in his email. He has never signed up for anything. The only way Disney knows his email is that 2 years ago at MK he was asked to do a survey. He did ,then they emailed him another survey and that was that. He has received only 2 emails from them since. One today and one last year that was just promotional junk. The funny thing is i am ther one on the sites all the time and i never get anything in my email.

PS I just booked the Dolphin for 6 nites in Aug. at 125/nite. Even better than the teacher rate.:cool1:

I booked the Swan @ $125 per night for August. Just wish we could use the magical express and dining plan. Im going to hold onto my ressie and cancel if Disney comes out with good resort deals with free dining.:confused3

Maybe I need to get my DH to register his email address. :confused3

We usually go every two years. We last received a card for a speacial in maybe early summer of 2006. We usually sign up for disney emails and the kids go to Disney Channel.com. We also recieved for a year or two Family Fun magazine, which is Disney owned. You could also look up the AP codes. Usually out two months before your vacation.
