I was watching MTV, and I saw a special with Cheerleaders. I wouldn't have watched it, except, I saw huge Baseball bats in the background. This made me recall a post I saw a LONG time ago!

So for all those of you who were there, my sympathy's are with you. I couldn't have handled all the screaming after midnight either!

Do you know what week(s) they will be there? And do they allways stay at the music/sports resorts?

I was at WDW in Feb 2001, We stayed at ASMo. There was a cheerleading competition going on and we were surrounded by teenage girls. It really wasn't that bad. Most were well behaved. I never noticed any noise late at night from any of them. We went the 2nd week of Feb. we are going in May this year. I just noticed that the crowds were really bad due to the competition.

Good news for anyone trying to avoid the cheerleaders in 2002. We were at ASSp Jan 31 - Feb 9 and had cheerleaders the whole time. We finally figured it was at least 2 groups of competition (both Saturdays we were there). We were starting to wonder how they could miss so much school until we realized there was a new batch that came in during the week. The only nights we heard any screaming/cheering form the shared areas or parking lots was Fridays as their competition seemed to take place on Saturdays. Even though AS's was full during our stay, the parks were slow our entire stay and we only had to use FP twice as I posted in a trip report posted about 3 weeks ago. The girls weren't a problem except I noticed more than a couple of times some tried to cut lines, especially for the bus stops.

The hotel usually places them in the FAR OFF buildings, I always stay in a building close to the Food Court. They were there Feb. 1-5th when I was there, but it was Dance Competition NOT cheerleaders, and they were from Oklahoma, Nevada, and other states in SouthWest. They were well behaved, and lots of them had tatoos!

We've run into cheerleaders/dance teams at ASMovies and CBR. All in all, they were well behaved and respectful. Most of them seemed pretty serious about the reason they were there. I can't say it really bothered us, although it did amuse us watching them!

We were at the AS/Sports the beginning of February and it was not a problem. All were well behaved and seemed very focused on why they were there. Every morning several groups were practicing on the football field. When they were in the food courts all were well behaved and under control. I have no problem stayed during this time and with the folks again. And never did we hear any loud screaming and carrying on. A total misconception. I could tell you about the tour groups that were at the All Stars last July, but that is a different story and am not ready to relive it!

Not only cheerleaders but sometimes you have all sorts of local little leagues invading the resort, particularly during meal times, leaving less quiet areas available for guests.

I have been at the All Stars three years in a row when the Cheerleaders/Dance teams have invaded. I feared the worst the first year.

I have to tell you, unless you are in the food courts when they descend, you would never know they were there.

Keep in mind that these young women are hard working athletes. And at this level of competition, they are very dedicated and focused on the competition. They have little off time.

If you are there in the food courts when they arrive, be warned. They travel in large herds. BUt, in my experience, they are polite, well mannered, and very well chaperoned. We have gone to the parks on the buses with some of the teams and these girls are so jazzed about being there, at the NATIONALS, that Disney is secondary.

If you are going to be there at the same time as any of these competitions, don;t worry. You will hardly see them, and when you do, they are a pleasure to be around. And feel free to ask them about it. The groups we have alwyas encountered were so proud of being there, and friendly. It is very hard work to get there. They should be proud.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that they are at a Disney Resort and they know what Disney will put up with and what they wont.

I was offsite during one of the competitions and there was a LARGE group staying at our motel. They were totally out of control, screaming, yelling, running up and down the stairs and up and down the halways all hours of the night, making crank calls to the front desk, and basically being totally wild. The motel did nothing to stop them, they knew that, so they went wild. I must say also that the chaperones were as bad as the kids!!! They did nothing to stop them and they were yelling to each other over the balconies just as much and as loud as the kids did.

These kids and chaparones know that Disney would NEVER put up with such antics so they....from what I have heard and read...act much better at a Disney resort.

WOW! What a difference in behavior! So glad I was not off site, that could really put a damper on your vacation!

(Just another reason to stay on site! LOL!)

It really did put a damper on our trip especially when the front office of the motel would not give me the name of the school they were from so I could call their principal and tell him or her how the kids and chaperones acted. That was the last offisite stay for us. Now we stay exclusively onsite.

I find the people who do complain about the cheerleaders often to be funny. (Imagine, teenagers at Disneyworld. What is the world coming to?) I am glad to see a good post regarding it. We stayed only 1 night at All Star Sports, but we loved it. It is, in my opinion, a fantastic resort, and lots of fun. We enjoyed kicking field goals in the morning before starting for the parks.
