For those who have been to Vero Beach

I understand that VB is about 2 hours from Orlando. Now, have any of you ever driven over to the World while staying at VB?

I'm thinking about one night heading over to see La Nouba. Would this be a totally insane thing to do? We are checking in on Mon and out on Fri after a three night stay at AKL.

It normally only takes us 1hr and 35 mins. I don't realy drive the speed limit but i don't fly either. Sure its doable!

Its all highway except for about 5 miles near Vero Beach. It takes me about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Good luck!

We did a day trip from VB to Epcot during Flower and Garden Festival. It was an easy drive, about two hours "door to door" each way.

It is 114 miles from VB to WDW. It usually takes us 1 hr 40 minutes going about 75 mph.

Thank you all for your input! It sounds like the Cirque would be totally doable! I am really excited to hear that the drive is shorter than I was thinking! With dh at the wheel, I could see us easily able to squeeze in a trip back to Orlando!

We drove to the MK for a day on our first trip to Vero Beach It was not bad at all and the morning part was fun and enjoyable. No one on the roads, just straight driving. We did close the MK that day and by the time we got in the car it was midnight. THe trip back to VB was a bit tougher, my husband and I both struggled to stay awake. Those beautiful, empty roads in the morning translate to dark and desolate at night. Just be sure you can stay awake for the trip home and it's fine. Have fun!

Thanks for the input. I'm glad you mentioned the driving conditions. I was wondering how busy the drive would be. I'll remember to make sure we don't stay in Orlando too late - would hate to be so tired on the desolate roads!

We made the drive to/from Vero last summer to meet friends who were staying at the resort. The drive was pleasant and definitely under 2 hours. When we arrived, I asked the front desk if I could "pool hop" there since we were staying at Old Key West. They gave me a one day temporary pool pass.

The resort is beautiful. The swim in the ocean was nice. The swim in the pool was nicer. It was a good break from the crowds at WDW.

Call me nuts, but my DW and I did this two years ago with family..

We were staying at VB for the week and took DS1 to MK for a day... You can expect the drive to be about 2 hours, but traffic was fine.

I'd do it again without hesitation again if the situation warranted it...

You just have to plan on setting aside the entire day between the trip and activities, parks, etc...
