For those of you who have a Bay Window, what type of window treatment do you have on it?

I currently have textured (swirls) off white verticals which I had installed when we first built 8 years ago. I'm tired of them & would like some new ideas on what to do with my formal livingroom window (which we use as an office.) Just wondering what you have on yours? I'm also interested in privacy!

Any suggestions, pictures, advice, comments?

Hi Mishetta!!!
I don't have an answer for you since....we STILL have no window treatment on our new bay since April 14!!!!! We are still trying to figure out what to do....infact.....our bedrooms still have garbage bags on them! We haven't stained any of the wood yet...so that is holding us up too......

BTW, you can't tell from the outside that they are bags on the window since our windows are pretty well tinted....just so you don't think we are totally strange!!

I think for the bay we will go with the pleated shades on each window....not sure though......

Hopefully, my dad will get started on staining the woodwork soon...we narrowed it down to 2 colors......

Good luck!!!!

Hi Lisa!

Congrats on your Bay! I do remember reading your post just before you had it installed! Did you get any good ideas from your post about window treatments?

I may have room darkening pleated shades installed but I also would like a jabot or scarf or some sort of valance ~ something to soften the look, but keep it somewhat formal. Altho we use this room as an "office," it is still formal looking with all the deep cherry furniture we have in here.

I have a huge bay window in a guest room. It's made up of three windows the same size. I installed wood plantation shutters for privacy, then layered lace panels in front of them to go along with room decor (Victorian). The floor space in front of the bay windows is deep enough so that I have a love seat placed there. In front of the love seat is the wall opening (through which you see windows) from which I've hung heavy drapes that are pulled back from the middle to reveal the windows and seat. This creates a nice little alcove for reading. I know you can't picture what I'm describing here.....it even confuses me. At least I meant well. :teeth:

The same mechanics can be carried out but using different textures and fabrics, the overall effect could easily be contemporary, country or anything you want.

Sounds beautiful ilovepcot! Wish I could see a picture of it!!
