For those who are tired of increase costs

Disney has such a positive image in our minds, they spend millions of dollars to create that image. Until owning DVC our family thought that Disney could do no wrong but the DVC has taught us that Disney isn't perfect, they do make mistakes and often we do not understand why they don't fix things like the website or do a better job cleaning some of the rooms.

We sold several of our contracts but we still have 16 contracts at 6 resorts. I am sure that vacationing as often as we do at Disney exposes us to a greater chance of having issues. To be clear we have room issues about 50% of the time but IMO that is too often for a company with Disney's reputation.

Hello.

You mentioned you have 4 contracts. Does each contract have the same UY? Is it for the same resort? Did you buy resale each time? When you decided to buy additional points, what went into your decisions?

Thanks

Hey-- All the same use year-- Keeps them under the same member number and easier to manage bookings ( IMO). First bought 175 BCV prior to opening direct. Mostly because that's what they were selling when we were there. Within a year, bought 100 BWV from a flyer sent by Disney offering a discount and we basically had been wanting more points. Then we bought 175 SSR prior to opening (right around the same time) mostly because we wanted the later expiration date. All of these were direct and around or just under 80 a point. We were going to sell the 175 beach club to compensate for the SSR, but ended up keeping them both. About a year ago I bought 100 AKV resale, right before they released POLY and the increased point cost. (80 PP) I felt that the resale price was going to skyrocket not long after the new direct pricing increased, and now it is... Retrospect, the first three I got lucky because I was not as educated as I should have been, but turned out I like what I have. Only thoughts are that I wish I would have waited on the SSR and bought BLT resale once it was available, but when we bought SSR no one really thought there would be a monorail DVC. Things sure have changed. And I chose the AKV because we wanted to stay club level and the we liked the deal.

I still like my DVC. In fact, I truly love SSR. That said, I won't blindly cheerlead for Disney. Their prices ARE too high. Quality HAS declined. I personally despise magic bands and FP+, but I recognize many people are in the other camp.
I still will go to WDW, just not as often and perhaps not into the parks. Either way, DVC is the best part of the equation for me. I love hearing that "welcome home" when I first walk in.
