For those undecided about DVC....

I have just priced up my 2-Bed Room OKW rental for Easter if I was paying cash rather than using my DVC points. It would cost me £6,500!

My DVC purchase (230pts) "only" cost me £10,000 and £600 or so in fees each year. As I plan to use it every 3 years, that equates to £1,800 in fees and the difference offset against my purchase cost. So....on my first use of it, I will be "recovering" £4,700 of that original purchase cost! It ignores compounding, time value of money etc. etc. etc. but its still a great way to look at it

Yep, it's not difficult to see the value is it?

This year is our 10th anniversary of being members and we've just loved it and have not regretted the purchase for one moment.

Real estate in Florida may have sky-rocketed (like here) over that time, but a) we've not had the hassle (to us that is; others may think the renting out business great fun) and considerable costs of ownership of a property and b) we are on Disney property. Oh, and c) amazingly, I could still get my original purchase price back and I've had all those great rooms at Vero Beach, Hilton Head, Boardwalk and Old Key West for a pittance if I ignored the purchase price!

I've kept accurate records on spreadsheet of every penny I've spent on buying and annual dues and, for the way we take our holidays, it has been just brilliant. Love these new smilies

I agree we are staying in a 2 bed at OKW for 8 nights, a 1 bed at Vero for 4 nights and using the last of our 2006 points over Christmas. So we get 15 nights of deluxe accommodation for $76 per night
