For those that have had family members that paid

We are having a big group next year and I offered my cousins and siblings a limited # of points at 7.50. That covers MFs and the original investment. So if it was, for example my brother and his family, sharing a 2 bedroom with my family- I would divide the # of points by 2 and then multiply the number by 7.50 and ask him to pay me that amount.

My sister and her family came last year and we booked them a 2-bdrm for 9 nights. I basically said they could pay us what they would have had they stayed in a moderate room(which they would of if we did not have DVC), more or less. We just settled on $1000, which they thought was very reasonable, especially when they saw the rack rates and of course when they saw the villa. At the moderate they would have just been in 1 room. My sister said it was worth it just for the in-room laundry, not to mention the whirlpool, the balcony, and the second bathroom for the 2 teen girls.;)

We are going at the end of the month and have a studio for DH and I as well as DSis and BIL. We didn't want to charge them "full price" but didn't want to lose either (since we are all but giving up next year's points to take them). We ended up "renting" to them for about $6 per point. Affordable for them, but still making up for the use of points.

I was upfront all through planning about charging them, so it was not a surprise. I think $500 for a week at BCV is a bargain. You can't get All Star for that.
That is what it ended up being for us last year at BWV. ($500.00) for the rest of the family since we would only have rented a studio since there is only DH, DD & I.

We just got back from a 2br at BCV and charged my sister and her husband$500 for 7 nites. They had the other bedroom while we had the master. I think they got a great deal. Like a previous poster said cant stay at the value resorts for that price!
