For those that care. American Idol potential 2026 dates.

Per emails, looks like American Idol will be dates between February 6th - 13th 2025

2026 dates might be 01/25/26 - 01/31/26. The email says TV production and could potentially be Idol or something different. Either way the resort will be effected these dates in January.

Thanks! Personally, I think it destroys the ambience and mood of the beach, eliminates the best seating areas, and substantially diminishes the entire Aulani experience. Was there a few years ago while it was happening…never again.

We don't really watch American Idol, and had no idea they filmed there. Thanks for posting this info. Luckily we'll be there several weeks later. We often look at stuff like that for WDW (like is there a race weekend, cheer competition, Jersey week, etc) for planning. Would never have thought about Aulani!!

On FB some say they barely noticed others say there were areas roped off to certain chairs etc. and they didn’t like it

Does Aulani offer tickets to watch the show?

Seems that previously they give DVC members the ability to obtain tickets. But some say you have to stand for 3+ hours with those tickets and watching from sidelines is better

We were there this past January/February during Idol. It is (or was) technically at the neighbouring resort but it does block some beach access. You also hear everything from the Aulani pool, which is either neat or annoying depending on your perspective. I thought it was kind of cool but I can definitely see why others would not want it there.

Edit: I have been corrected! I thought it was technically at Four Seasons. It was at the very edge of the Aulani beach then. I stand by the rest of my post.

One of the prime seating areas for adults, in front of Ama Ama, is closed off, as is a chunk of the beach off to the side, and for days the beach is a cacophony of noise, coming from either construction sounds as the stage is erected and then disassembled a few days later, construction vehicles beeping continuously and loudly as they back up, or from the performers’ massively amplified voices as they rehearse on stage all day for hours on end. We absolutely hated it.

This is a view from 2BR ocean view room 1450 with the stage circled in red. I did not consider it disruptive.

I’m pretty sure it was 22. The area in front of Ama Ama, where the nice chaise seating is located, was completely closed off for on camera interviews. For us, the whole thing was monumentally annoying. The construction noise and amplified technical rehearsals made it impossible to just relax and read on the beach. And the stage is on the Aulani part of the lagoon.

Has Idol ever filmed there in January? We are thinking about a January 2026 trip as a break from the snow but would prefer to not be there when idol is. Would we be safe in mid to late January? Or is early to mid January a better bet?
