re check your rates for january....

our rate for january 14 -21 has gone from 170$ to begin with to 138$ two days ago to .....124$ today....EA using Entertainment coupon and magic DC code

it always pays to check,

did this recheck due to a post somewhere about someone getting 7$ a day for an economy at payless through a travel agent....which might have meant the supply is greater than the demand...

Thanks for the heads-up! I just checked and my rate for 2/3-2/12 went from 254.94 down to 193.43! Over 60.00 savings! :hyper:

(I don't have an entertainment coupon or DC, but used a contract id and coupon I found through MouseSavers.)

Thanks. I just dropped my rate for 1/3-1/11 from $224 to $182 (EA with Emerald Club rate and Entertainment Club coupon).

Mine is at 115.06 for 7 days EA (including all fees and taxes) renting from Tampa. I used the magic DC code and BJ's 20.00 off coupon. Combine that with the 50.00 voucher I recieved for their BIG mistake last rental and that takes me to 65.06 for the total rental. Not too shabby.

I also priced it for orlando and it is 128.27 - 50.00 = 78.27.

Thanks for the heads up, LAWGS, your the man!!!

What is the "magic DC code"? No, I don't want to know the code itself, but what is it you are referring to. Disney Club? If so, I have Disney Club, but since it ends on December 31st, how can there be a code for January? Is that the "magic" part? LOL
We just rented from National in early December, and they couldn't even find me in the system as a Disney Club/Emerald Club/Aisle member, so we were told we would have to go to the counter. As I recall, it went fine, I guess. No real delays or long lines, but I would like to skip that whenever possible.

I was just wondering if we will still have Emerald Aisle access after DC disappears? Or will we just have to join? As I recall, it was a bit pricey to join the Emerald Club. Unfortunately, I have a Gold card for Hertz which I use everywhere else in the world, but since it is offsite at MCO, we choose National. Guess it's time to cancel the Hertz Gold and just go with National everywhere.

I've had an Emerald Club card since 1998, long before it was available to Disney Club. Someone had posted a phone # to call for a "fee waived" application, I called and got it. Have never paid anything. I think they know it brings alot of business to them.

OK what did I miss? I have a minvan rental for 9 days starting on 1/14 and I just checked my rate and the rate did not budge. Did any of you use any rate codes? I too used my DC number and a coupon but no dice. Maybe it's because I need a van. I don't know. I have a grand total of $301.50 for my rental. I used the WWEB product rate code because without it my final price jumps to close to $500.

Thanks for the heads-up! I had dropped my rate down about 2 days ago and was pleased with that price, but I just checked and it is down another $14, so I took it!

I am paying $132.26 (with all tax. etc..) for a week rental of an intermediate. Don't know if that is a good price compared to some I've seen here, but I thought it was better than the $18X.XX that I could reserve last week!

Don't know if it makes any difference but I am renting from MCO and returning it to Dolphin (7th -14th), I have EA and am using the Carson Wagonlit code and an Entertainment Book coupon-I don't have DC.

If anyone had a suggestions for a better rate with National-let me know!

It is the DC code and they are still accepting it.
As to EC, call them. They may be able to find you. If not, sign up for free via the link on the mousesavers site. EA has NOTHING to do with DC so, if you are a member of EC you can still use EA after DC goes away.

the fact that you are dropping it off at the Dolphin probably increased your rate, try the entertainment code that came with the coupon.

That is about right, the extra days are what is bringing your rate up so high. It is an extra 79.66 for those two days.

welovedis , I am Hertz gold and the service at MCO is very fast. I am usually driving past the airport in less than 10 mins with my rental car. We never wait for the shuttle either at the airport or at the rental lot.

There are many places where you can get Hertz Gold for free. I use Hertz everywhere I fly and that is quite a bit. The service is great at MCO. We used to use National but found Hertz faster.

Thanks safetymom! I actually am a Hertz #1 Gold Club member for my business (or whatever it says on my card lol), but haven't used them at MCO yet. The reason I haven't tried them for this trip is because we only wanted the car for a week and are staying for 12 days. I chose Nat'l since I could return to the Dolphin.

Gail-
I actually tried it both ways right now (returning to MCO, returning to Dolphin) and the prices are the same. I did try changing my code from the Carson Wagonlit one to the other on the coupon and the price went up. I've been trying code combos along with Product Rate Codes and Coupon codes, but this is the best I could come up with so far. As I mentioned I don't have DC, but do have EC and also have the Entertainment book. I'm going to keep watching and realize I'm not going to pay as low as I normally do for a Priceline rental!

Thanks again!

Oh, safetymom, it was me who has Hertz Gold. Thanks for the report--I might try it next time since you said the shuttle wasn't a problem...but then again, I am a nervous flyer and have to take medication while I fly  and anything "extra" like another shuttle, etc. may be too much hassle. To give you some insight, when we flew down just two weeks ago, I was so "happy" on my meds that I don't remember taking the monorail shuttle thingy from the terminal to baggage, don't remember getting our baggage, and don't remember the drive to the Poly at all. My poor dh has me, dd, and all our luggage and apparently I am useless. To reply to this thread I had to ask him if we even did end up going to the counter to get our car.
Hey, at least it gets me there, LOL.

Sorry about that. The shuttle is very painless for Hertz. You just walk outside and there is two locations and you no sooner sit down and the shuttle pulls out. I am sure you could handle this.

Depending on the rates we can get, we will probably try Hertz next time. It does sound like it is not too tough, I'm sure we can handle it. :D

Where is the return for Hertz? We always return to the airport via 417. I recently got a Hertz Gold Card for work, my company uses Avis & Hertz for company rentals.

woohoo! must be special Christmas pixie dust today :D

I had given up on getting a good rate with National for our Jan trip. Just got a quote for $131.89 total using my EA, Sam's Club and Entertainment coupons. Thanks!

Thanks to the topic starter for the heads up! I just booked a new reservation for my 4-day January trip that is $28 less than my earlier ressie. Like everyone else here...we're always looking to save money. Whoo-hoo! THANK YOU!!!! I love the DIS!!!

DebbieB, I don't remember the exact name of the road that the return lot is on. It is very quick and easy to return the car. We get to MCO using 417, do curbside check in, and then return the car. Across the street from the Hertz lot is a gas station too. We are back at the airport quickly riding the bus.

There is one Hertz driver that is just wonderful!!! Captain Jack. He makes the time pass quickly. He is a big Elvis fan and he sings and tells stories on the bus. He has everyone involved. You wish you could stay on the shuttle longer.
