I was looking on Disney's website...and I noticed that the time has changed we are in Acapulco. Before I thought we left on the second morning around 8:30 or something around that. Now we have 2 full days at that port and don't leave until 2:30 am. :scratchin

Is this port nice for those who have been there? How are the beaches?

Any info would be great!

Thanks again,
Travis

We're actually not gaining a day, but losing 5 hours in this port. They moved the all-aboard up from 7am to 2:30am. I heard that we are sailing away at 3am. I won't be attending that party!

I thought we were getting two days now as well, that's how it looks when you go to the disney website and view your personal reservation/itinerary.

You all will be happy you are leaving early. Acapulco was quite the experience, but will never go back.

Val is correct....we have less time in AC.....leaving at 2:30 am, instead of leaving 7:30 am....so no more "overnight" in AC. Heard it has something to do with getting to the canal at a certain time, but that is not confirmed.

I just called Disney and they confirmed.....we are there for 2 days!! :scared: We will be leaving at 2:30 am on friday morning.

Thanks for all the help.

UPDATE: I just called back again and another CM said....we are there only one day. So who knows. lol

We are not planning any excursions in Acapulco; we are unsure if we will be getting off the ship. Very good friends of ours who were born and raised in Mexico City (now residing in Williamstown, Ma) gave us some advice: "Be very careful in Acapulco. We wouldn't advise you to get off the ship, just enjoy the view from the ship". They return to Mexico City 2 to 3 times a year to visit with family and they said they would never step foot in Acapulco. They said we will be safe and will enjoy Cabo, as they have been there many times on vacation. I can't understand why DCL has chosen this port, and for such an extended amount of time, when there are so many other beautiful and SAFE ports we could have gone to.

Well, ok, I was going off the schedule that Disney has posted for the cruise...I guess we'll see. Any beach day is a good day. :flower:

Because of this thread I wrote DCL for an answer and here is her reply:

Thank you for your e-mail.

The Disney Magic was to stay in Acapulco until 7 a.m on Thursday. The ship will now leave at 3 a.m.
Thursday morning. All aboard time is 2:30 a.m.

We look forward to the chance to sail with you.

So doesn't that imply that we are leaving earlier rather than staying an extra day???

::yes:: Yes it does. We were originally scheduled in port for about 24 hrs. Now we will have "only" :rolleyes1 about 19 hours.

Well, I definately wouldn't say don't get off the ship. The people we met along the way were all very nice (once we escaped..lol, the men in the blue shirts and the flea market). I would say..just do the touristy things or enjoy a beach excursion and then get back on the ship.

We rented a taxi and went to the cliff divers. Very good. Don't bother with the resturant if you can climb the steps. Go early to the platform. Cheap--like $3 and that includes a coke or beer. Take a taxi back. maybe hire the taxi as "your driver." We hired the taxi driver and his son was our "tour guide" throught the congested and busy market. I would not want to do it alone. Parts are dirty but we never really saw anything too gross--however I heard stories. I heard that there were prostitutes approaching people- esp crew who were on leave from the ship for a few hours--but never saw that. The old fort museum by the dock looked neat--but had no time to visit. I really did not like Accupulco but I did not feel unsafe. They did not bargin and the Magic was the last Cruise ship before the rainy season and the Magic headed East will be the first cruise ship of their season. I was disappointed with the shopping. But the cliff divers are what we wanted to see and we did okay. I do feel sorry for you all that get the extra day; I bet they have extra stuff going on on the ship as Disney knows that we did not like Accupulco. I would like the extra day in Maazatlan or Curacao....Curacao was WONDERFUL...snorkeling. I have stayed on ship in Cozumel and Nassau 3 times. We like doing that as you have the ship to your self. That is prime time to relax....or do laundry...
