For those of you that buy gifts for Concierge, what kind of gifts do you buy and for how many of the concierge do you buy for?
We will be staying at Boardwalk Inn, and I have no ideal what to give or for how many.
Please help I have never been club level before!

I'm staying CL too for the first time in Sept and like to know the answer as well.
Thanks!

I think it is traditional to present a gift unique to the state or area you live. Last year, while staying at Boardwalk Inn Deluxe Room Club Level, we gave a gift basket of peanuts in assorted flavors from the Peanut Roaster...a beloved company that is right from our North Carolina home town. Club Level CM's went "nuts" over it:rotfl:...I know bad pun; but the CM's were coming out of the woodwork to come see what we brought them. They made us feel like they really appreciated it. We'll be doing something similar this year.

Keep in mind they are allowed to accept gift cards. Hess gas or Disney gift cards are really a super nice way to "tip" CMs at Disney other than Bell Services, Valet and Housekeepers who are allowed to accept cash.

I actually received a gift card from Southwest Airlines the other week. A guest knew I travelled alot to go see my daughter and knew I used Southwest (because of the free luggage). I cried when I got it ... so thoughtful.

We love receiving gifts from where you live too. A guest from Hershey brings us Hershey candy all the time!!!!!

Whenever I go to Vegas (we always stay in the same hotel and I know the dealers and hosts there pretty well), I bring Disney stuff for them. They love it!!!

Thanks I will have to look around the tri- state area and see what I can come up with.

Nobody has answered the second part of your question so I will try. I generally do a "one size fits all" kind of gift, like a basket or something like mentioned earlier. Then if there is anyone in particular that had to go above and beyond for me, or I bugged more than others, or who really came through, then I get them a little something extra and a thank you card.

Silly question, but I wanted to ask anyways...First I am glad to see that others are thinking of the CM in CL. When I stayed at the AKL, I loved our CL CM. I kept saying to myself I should get him something. Then every time I saw something I realized he probably had a million of them already, since I was mostly shopping in the stores at WDW. I did try to tip him (I knew nothing of this thread before then, boy I know now). Of course he refused it. I left feeling terrible that I should have left him something. So, I plan to come prepared this time. I am hoping to have a similar exp. at the WL CL. Here is where my silly question comes into place. When do you find it more appropriate to present the gift? In the beginning of the stay(but I will barely know them), In the middle of the stay(I am afraid that I will miss them on a day off, and dont want to miss a chance of giving it to them) or at the end (for the same reason as in the middle of the stay). I do not want to be nosey and ask when they are off. I do plan to provide a little something that can be shared. I am also assuming the service will be stellar.

Can you tell I am an obsessed panner? Ever since I found this board, I have found more and more things I need to plan for! LOL!!

Thanks in advance. H

So when does one present the Gift to Concierge? Upon Arrival? After a couple of days? The End of the trip?

I never thought of this one...and I'm a etiquette junkie. And for Pete's sake, I bet they'd looooove to get a Gift basket from minnesotan's. Lutefisk...Nut Rolls, Couple of Touque's, The Movie Fargo, The Book "HOw to Speak Minnesotan"

;-)

Please don't ever bring lutefisk beyond the borders of Minnesota :crazy2:
lol.

....nut rolls on the other hand :thumbsup2

Back to the topic. Thanks for all the posted information. I was wondering about this as well.

*snicker*

I was thinking the lutefisk would result in a great game of "I Dare you to eat it" :rotfl:

Is alcohol appropriate? Will be coming from Ireland in December and wondering could (or should) I bring something like Baileys or Irish Whiskey? Might be hard for them to share though :)

Thanks everyone, my daughter and I will go out next week and see what we can find, as we live in South East, Ohio I feel we can look WV, KY and OH, does anyone know about how many CM work Concierge?

My daughter thinks we should look for some Amish candy and stuff like that,
I kind of want to look to see what they have at Blenko Glass as its so close to us.

Oh well at least I have 30 more days to look for some thing.

Bump...

Just to keep things clear- they dont expect gifts. They are a nice surprise, but don't feel bad if you've stayed in the past and didn't leave anything. One of the best gifts is for you to write an e-mail to Disney guest communications about how you enjoyed your stay.

ITA! I wrote about a specific CM at BC/YC IPO. I was called by someone from Disney later and told she was recognized at some sort of event :) To me, that would be better than any gift.

Also, I've wondered about the gifts and CM's at IPO. They are usually most helpful to us. How would I even get a gift to them? Sometimes CM's working the desk and lounge are great and sometimes not so much...IMO, I wouldn't give it at the start of the trip unless you think it will get you favored treatment. Perhaps, in the middle or end if they are being helpful.

So, I have two questions:
1 --How to get a gift to IPO?
2 --Anyone know the email address to send letters about CM's? I can't locate it now.

I have to agree here. Most of my planning is done before hand with the IPO team. In most cases, these are the CM's who aren't generally "seen", although some resorts do rotate their staff. I like the gift basket idea, especially since they do work as a team, even though you may only have direct contact with a specific person. After one exceptional experience with the YC staff, I sent down a chocolate gift basket for the team to enjoy and then I asked for the names of those specifically in the IPO department. Because it was the holiday, I purchased each one a Make a Wish ornament and had them engraved. I asked and was told to use the resort mailing address.

Here's the e-mail address for guest communications, wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com .

Keep it basic and 'shareable' if you want to give something for multiple CM's. Something to munch on for instance; think about smaller things so everybody can have their own share if desired. Makes it a lot easier to have 5 smaller candy bars than 1 huge one to share between 5 CM's, for instance.

Also know that the CM's you're dealing with prior to the trip (through mail, phone etc.) are not the same CM's as you'll encounter at the resorts. So if you want to acknowledge them, you might want to think about a way that reaches them. And of course, it never minds in which function or place any CM is, they all appreciate a written 'kuddos' to WDW after you get back home.

When staying at AKL CL, I brought something typical dutch along. One guess where I come from. :rotfl: Anyhow, I made sure to pick some things that are not available in the regular US stores. I brought some of our native candy/cookies, making sure there was enough for individuals munching and being enough left for the next days shifts. Especially the latter turned to be somewhat of a challenge. It was such a hit, the nightshift couldn't stop eating them. Might not have been the smartest move to hand them out the night before our check out. :lmao: Also resulted in a great chat with a CM that did an internship in the Netherlands and that loved having the oppertunity of catching up on her Dutch.

Why did we lug anything along to begin with? We like having something on hand for those 'just in case' situations. And the AKL CM's went above and beyond during the week I was up there. They treated me like royalty. Figured they might enjoy a munch and a written 'kuddos' afterwards.
