For those of you that ABSOLUTELY LOVE one specific resort, do you ever try another?

There are some people that really enjoy one specific resort & always seem to stay there.

I'm wondering if they stay at other resorts to try something new or for comparison reasons or just always stay at their particular favorite?

If you only stay at your favorite, why not try another?

I'll weigh in: we have loved every resort we have stayed in, but we try to stay in a new resort everytime we go -- we are definitely the types to try new things as often as possible (except the whole going to Disney World for our vacations :) ).

yes and no. I LOVE the GF, it is my fav. by far but we cnanot always afford it, so we are "forced" to try new things. we stayed at AKL this Christmas and while it was very pretty ad unique, it was jus tnot "for me" and i missed the grand so much. when i went there for dinner, i had tears in ym eyes b/c i missed staying there so badly! I guess i am just comfortable there, and know i will love it. its scary trying somewhere new and risking wasting money on a resort you may not just love ya know?

Our fav is AKL and this will be our third time staying there and our fifth trip to WDW. We usually do split stays so that we can experience more resorts. We have stayed at CBR twice, ASSp, OKW, YC, and this time we will also stay at POR.

We love the GF, too, but due to cost we will probably be staying at POFQ (we're having 2 rooms, so that knocks us out-of-budget with the deluxes).

I'll add my comments too... :)

I LOVE the Polynesian Resort. In my personal opinion, the overall resort experience cannot be beat by ANY other WDW resort. Having said that, I've stayed at a few other resorts and fully enjoyed my experiences, and I have a lot of great things to say about each of those resorts. :sunny:

In the future, we'll probably always consider the Polynesian first, but there will be times when we'll choose a different resort. We wouldn't choose a different resort simply for comparison purposes though. We would choose a different resort if (for example) we were traveling with others who like to stay at a different resort; if we're traveling with family who can't afford or don't want to spend the money on the Polynesian and in that case we'd stay where they stayed; if we decided to go mainly to Epcot then I could see us choosing an Epcot resort (although the Polynesian is just a short walk away from the Epcot monorail :thumbsup2 ); or for any other reason or situation that could come up.

So in a nutshell, the Polynesian is our #1 choice, but we wouldn't hesitate to try other resorts and enjoy what those resorts offer. :sunny:

We have our favorites (Wilderness Lodge and POR) but we normally try other resorts just to say we have..

some where really nice (FW Cabins, Pop Century) and others horrible (CSR was the only one to rate that)..

We tend to have different numbers of people each year we go, so that factors into our resort choices. We tend to not enjoy the deluxe resorts, but that is more us. I think once the kids are older and just my wife and I go, then we will give Contempory and Poly a shot. Until then, we hit the mods and values

We absolutely adore the Poly. Love love love everything about about it...except the price. The choice of resort is SO important to us. Some people just want a bed to sleep on, but for us, we like to kick back and enjoy the theme, appreciate the landscaping, take advantage of the amenities. We know the Poly provides what we're looking for in a vacation, and we know the kids love it, so it's a sure bet. Hard to spend so much money and not know what's in store.

We are tearing ourselves away from the Poly this trip (in April) to try WL, mostly because we don't want to become creatures of habit, and partially because we'd like to not have to pay Poly prices every trip. Then maybe we'll be able to afford to go a little more often.

We have a pretty short list of resorts that we'd like to try someday (don't have a mission to try every resort like some do). We're intrigued by MK view in CR, Savannah view at AKL, location of YC/BC, nurses' rates at Swan, and family suites at ASMu. I hope we can take at least enough trips with our kids to discover those resorts...and maybe squeeze in a few more visits to the Poly in between.

We are hooked on POFQ, maybe some day we will try poly.

We love AKL and have stayed there twice, once for 6 nights, once for 7. We have toured almost all the other resorts, but our hearts still belong to the AKL. We are planning a two week stay next year and know that we cannot afford two weeks at AKL. So we are staying for a week at ASMu and a week at AKL. We want to at least try a different resort once in a while. We let DS pick from the mods and vals and he picked ASMu. I don't mind as long as week get to finish out our trip relaxing at the AKL!

We love the Polynesian. We have stayed there so many times before, but we have also stayed at the GF, YC, BC, Contemporary, OKW, & SSR over the past 25 years.

We tried the YC & BC many times, especially when they first opened and I love them, but we really like the monorail being right there too. Contemporary is nice, but lacks that enjoyable theme. OKW villas are gorgeous-with laundry, kitchen and tons of space, but taking a bus the parks everyday is our drawback. Booked SSR in 2006 at the last minute for a convention and it was lovely, but huge. We like to eat a ts breakfast, but there is only cs available. Having the kitchen facilities are not a huge deal for us, except for beer and soda.

This year we decided to go back to the GF. We have not stayed there in probably 10 years. We eat at Citricos and Narcoosees, so why not be that much closer to your room at night. I think it is going to be great, but I am going to miss the Poly.

We have tried every resort except for All Stars and Contmp...not interested in going to those places. We are now forever taken with GF (stayed 3 times) and looks like thats the only place we want to stay. :thumbsup2

I would love to go Poly everytime but cannot afford so we have tried a different place each time, maybe 2 different ones this year - I told DH that I want to "sleep my way around the world" lol¬

I am a BEACH CLUB GIRL!!!!

we stayed at POFQ the first trip as an adult and have stayed at the BC ever since. As a kid I have stayed at the GF, POLY, CONT and what used to be the Golf Resort. But this time we could not get in to the BC, we are trying the GF again...my husband has never stayed there and while it is beautiful, I really love the concenience of EPCOT to the BC!!!

on trips of more than 8 nights, we start with 2-3 "try a new resort nights" (yes, that's what we actually refer to them as :) , ending with our absolute favorite: BWV (just in case we don't care for the "try me" resort:rolleyes1 ).

so far: POR, CBR, FWH, YC (concierge), BC, AKL (savannah view), Poly, BWI, GF (tower room), OKW, BCV, SSR, BWV.
still on my list to try: CSR, CR, VWL, & AKV ("visited" all with the exception of CSR, tho we are planning on eatting there in may to check it out). we stayed off-site once (never again, not for us), & we've never stayed at a value.
we like that the theming of each resort is so immersive that it does make for a totally different experience depending upon where you're staying. we would definately recommend trying something "new" as often as feasibly possible, to see which you personally like best :) .

We have stayed at Poly, GF and POP. The monorail convenience was great when our kids were little, now they are older and we can be more adventurous. Our last trip we toured different resorts and decided on YC. While POP was an excellent money saver, being a 5'11" woman, I need a bed larger than a full. We decided on the YC because of the decor, SAB, and esp. the convenience to Epcot and DHS. I can't wait.

In chronological order, we have stayed at POR, WL, YC, and Pop. My heart belongs to YC. I could stay there every trip and be perfectly content....ecstatic, in fact. Location, theme, pool, housekeeping.....this place has it ALL IMHO. However, DH hates that "Been there, done that" feeling and it's his (and the kids') vacation, too, so this year I am forced to expand my horizons. The kids and I will be in FL for 12 days and we are trying POFQ for the first time. When DH joins us for the last 7 days of the trip, we will move to WL. When DH is with us, I have to have a queen size bed, so we have to stay deluxe. We haven't stayed at WL since 2004 and the kids are thrilled to be going back.

The kids asked if we were going to the Cape May character breakfast at BC and I said no. I know me well enough to know that being that close to my beloved YC and not staying there (and not hanging out at SAB!) would make me sad, so we are avoiding that area entirely. I'm hoping that for the 2009 trip (which will be my 45th birthday) I can convince DH to go back to YC.

This is a great question! I was JUST having a...well let's call it a heated discussion...about where to stay this summer.

I am very much a creature of habit. I like things to be organized and familiar. I am comforted and relaxed by routine...My first stay on Disney property was at the Wilderness Lodge.

I am a Wilderness Lodge girl. I love it. I love hearing "Welcome Home" when we drive up. I love the fireplace in the gorgeous cavernous lobby and the little woodland creatures that peek out from all over the place. I love the rooms and the pool and the boat to Magic Kingdom...I LOVE IT. It's where we stay. It's home. It is part of the magic for us.

It was a surprise to me last night when my husband and I were talking about trip this summer and he started talking about staying at another resort...:scared1:

;)

My husband was making the argument that he wants to experience a stay at another resort before we buy DVC next year at Wilderness Lodge Villas. He wants to "broaden his Disney' horizens" if you will... ;) (We've stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter before...one night at the beginning of our honeymoon b/c we left a day earlier than we had planned...we really liked it. But it's no WL!)

The bigger reason to stay at a different resort though is that my step son is just crazy for animals. Insanely crazy. He would be over the moon to stay at a resort in which Giraffes and Zebras are frolicking hither and yon in his back yard. That would be heaven to him.

So I relented...we will be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge this summer...and to be honest...I'm a little bit excited about it!!

I think that the people who write the Passporter have the best jobs in the world. They have stayed at every resort on property, numerous times. THAT would be a cool way to earn a living!!!

The first time we stayed at a Disney Resort I managed to get a very nice deal on the newly opened Boardwalk Inn. We loved it so much, we're now booking our fourth stay there (well, it's actually at the Villas this time, but that's close enough). We absolutely love the easy access to Epcot and MGM/Hollywood Studios and also the atmosphere of the Boardwalk generally. We've debated trying the Beach and Yacht Club on the other side of the lake, but we keep coming back to the Boardwalk. I have no doubt that we're missing some really cool places, but it kinda feels like our home away from home now.

Also, just my luck to get a great deal on a Deluxe Hotel my first time at bat. Now we're spoiled!

Contemporary fan here!! Have also stayed at the Pop Century, and will be doing so again this year, as well as having enjoyed the POFQ and Riverside. Didn't care for the room at the Riverside but the grounds are stunning. This year we're going to split with the AKL and see how that is. Could it be a new favorite? The CR with a tower room and MK view is kinda hard to beat, but we'll seeeeeee!!!:thumbsup2
