I emailed yesterday. I am very unhappy and do not want to make any more purchases on my account. I'm going shopping in a few hours, but I won't be using Disney Visa.

I am also upset over this deal and it being for only new Bank One customers. I called Bank One last night and the woman said if you have a card now, there is no way to get the deal...even if you've had your card just a short time.

My profession is advertising and marketing..and this is a great marketing tool for new customers....but they are making a huge mistake by alienating their existing client base.

I am e-mailing Bank one and WDW today. If enough people complain, they may open it to everyone...esp with the press WDW has been getting lately ....CM killed, Roy Disney, Eisner, CBS' Bad Food Ratings report, Pixar separation, Comcast takeover, etc.

Remember how it was this past summer when they decided that certain people would be allowed to get PS 90 days out and general public would stay at 60...that lasted about a week because general public realized they'd never get CRT and other prime restaurants and complained loudly.

JMHO,

HERE IS A LINK ABOVE
scroll to the bottom of the page and email visa about your
dissatisfaction regarding the current new cardmembers only
promotion, I did and I hope if enough people do they will
listen.

It looks like this link goes to first usa not bank one. I don't think they'll care if we're mad. I think you have to e-mail Bank One and WDW...they're the two parties involved at the moment.

I'll look for the link and post it.

but it did change over the summer to 90 days for everyone

I get the link thing now...first usa and bank one are the same...duh...I should know that ...

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood what your point was

My point is that complaints count at Disney. They offered a new deal for a select few this past summer, got lots of complaints and suddenly the new deal was offered to everyone.

I think this might also be the case here if enough people take the time to express their displeasure.

JMHO,

okay, I added a disney email link and I emailed them
as well, let's see if anyone gets a response.

Im a Disney Visa card holder as well and I dont see how this offer differs from the postcard offers, the offers for FL residents, the offers for AP holders, offers for certain states, etc.
This is how they market to pull in new business, there have been many offers that were only for select people.
Yes there are always going to be some that are offered things others are not, thats just the way it is.
Im not trying to put down anyone who is mad they didnt get the offer just showing there are always offers around that are only for select markets.

4greatboys,

we are upset beacause they did away with the disney club
card which offered awesome discounts and now they have
a visa card that is good for what???
not much.

that is why we are upset , this was suppossed to replace the
disney club card and so far it hasnt come close to offering anything like the other card.

one little promotion for a few weeks out of the year is not
anything like we expected.

Just called Disney and got a wonderful CM(His name was Cash I believe) anyway he went above and beyond to try to get this for me even though he knew I was a day one member
After he tried with the disney people, he also called bank one and it was still no go ...They said only new applaciants.
I posted a complaint on the bank one e-mail site.
Who knows it might work, but I am thinking they just dont care.
Oh well it was worth a try:(

In my mind this does differ from other deals offered. I am pretty sure that Florida resident rates are offered to ALL residents of the state. It would be like telling Florida residents that only new residents of the state would be eligible for the rates. Similarly, it would be like telling existing AP holders that the AP rates would only be available to NEW AP holders. There are so many credit cards available today. I personally throw away five or more offers per week. It does not make sense to offend your loyal client base when there is so much competition. I know that you are not trying to offend anyone and I am not either. I respectfully disagree with you. In some ways it will save me money if they do not offer it to everyone. I have a four night trip planned in July. If I add three more nights to that, it would just be that many more meals and extras that I would be spending....on my Disney Visa.

I'm a little confused as to what the big deal is.

Do you get bent out of shape when people get postcards and you don't?
Companies give discounts or free gifts all the time to entice new applicants for their credit cards. This is not new.
They were giving out chocolates, discounts, and teddy bears at a local department store for new charge applicants. Are you trying to say that I should have, or that you would have, demanded the free gift because of being an existing card holder?

You put that very well.

I will repeat myself as to why we are upset

Just a little FYI there is a "Fairytale" offer on the disney website but to me it didnt look all that great. I put in 4 nights Poly concierge and it came up $2926.9 and that did NOT include tickets. Thats $585 per night which isnt much off rack rates.
hellokitty--sad to say I didnt have very high expectations of my DC membership or of Disney visa card. But since we do charge stuff and pay it off at the end of the month I though I would just use my card to earn some reward dollars to spend there. I have never been a fan of Bank One and it seems like they are meeting my expectations :(

I've added my comments to bankone and will send to Disney shortly. I know promotions are offered to different sets of people all the time - it's a great marketing tactic. What does upset me about this is some people are getting a super reduction in rates and right now when I look at Walt Disney World offers for my account, there are 0. An offer from National Car with a 20% discount is negligible as well - I am renting a minivan with Dollar for half the price I'd get with National.

When I was a Disney Club member I always got a discount at a WDW resort. In fact, I am getting better discounts with AAA so am not sure if the Disney Visa card is worth it.

I will try to explain why this has Disney Visa cardholders so upset. I hope that I explain this well, and please know that I am not criticizing you or your analogy to other giveaways - I'm just trying to point out how this is different.

It does not offend me in the least when DV offers $100 Disney Dollars or some other free gift to new cardmembers. That's just effective marketing. But a WDW package deal is a whole other story - deals on WDW trips are why the majority of us got the DV card in the first place. We were promised future package deals, similar to those offered with the old Disney Club card, if we got the DV card and so, naturally, that's what we expect to get. When we see that there are indeed package deals being offered, but not to us, then I think we have every right to be outraged.

This is exactly what I expressed to a DV custromer service supervisor yesterday, and maybe she was just trying to placate me, but she said she agreed with what I was saying and she could understand why we found this so upsetting.
