For Those Mad About Disney Visa's

I want to add my name to the list of those who has emailed both companies.
I emailed Bank One with a stern message. Being shut out for being a loyal Day One customer is not the way to keep me.
I emailed Disney with a more forgiving message. I feel Disney has been betrayed by Bank One. (When speaking to a Bank One rep, I was told that they had no control over who the offer was open to, that Disney was in control of the marketing ) I asked them to please open the availability of this package to counter the harm that Bank One has caused.
I now await with the rest of you to see what response we might get.

Troy

I'm adding my name as well! Please post if anyones receives a reply from either company.

I don't think Disney has been betrayed by Bank One at all. Bank One can't decide on its own to start giving away free days at Disney or anything else that concerns Disney's bottomline without Disney's approval. If Disney didn't want to offer the deal...Bank One wouldn't be able to do so.

Also, if Disney was betrayed and its original intent was for all Disney Visa customers to get the deal, Disney's CM's wouldn't be turning away people with existing Disney VISA cards or asking for codes.

However, I do agree with you that it will be Disney's decision if the offer is open to everyone or not.....because it's Disney's products (tickets and hotel stays) that will be given away.

Well apparently I was one of the lucky few to get this great package booked for August, even though I've been a cardholder since Day 1. I was told by the CM that it was open to all cardholders and he gladly booked it for me. I think he made a mistake.

That being said, I'd like to let you all know I emailed Bank One and Disney to back all of you on this situation. I'm tired of the inconsistencies and feel this package should be offered to all cardholders.

Good luck to all.

P.S. Another example of how Disney listens to complaints is when they took away early entry...they eventually brought it back, just renamed it.

I was told by Disney that Bank One makes the decisions regarding the deals, so I called Bank One. Then, Bank One said, "Oh no, Disney is the one who decides all of that!" Go figure!

Wow! I was a Disney Club member for years and used that card often at our local Disney store and every time we went to the World. I was sad when they decided to cancel it. The VISA didn't seem to offer half the savings the club did, so we passed that offer by. Instead I got a FRONTIER airlines card at the airport when traveling back to WDW on the Fairytale package last summer. We have already qualified for a free ticket! I'm not sure what the exact details are about this latest Disney VISA offer, but it seems that we made the right choice not getting that card last year. It seems like we're missing out on a lot of frustrating aggravation. The DC always made members feel special. I'm gathering that the DV is making faithful members feel like they've been taken for a ride!

My DH has tried to apply for a new Disney Visa (I've had one for a year already) and we were told that he could not receive the package since we did not recieve a mailer in the mail. We told them that we didn't want the card, then. The customer service representative was very helpful and asked lots of supervisors for assistance to help, but they all said no. I guess I'm going to have to wait and see if they open the package to everyone later. I've already e-mailed both Disney and Bank One. I'll let you know if I get a response.

Called tonight to order my Disney rewards card and when I was finished with that I told the rep about my dissatisfaction with the new Visa deal. She said they had heard plenty of complaints and knew people were mad. Keep those calls going!

I am normally a lurker on these boards, and post occasionally on the Universal boards, but I felt I had to add something to this topic. I emailed both the credit card company, and Disney, and expressed my disappointment with this latest nonsense. I have $74 in Disney rewards and I am also tempted to pull them out and cancel the card. You would think Disney would want to "reward" people who got the card when it was first offered, but they probably figure they already have us hooked. So much for any feeling of loyalty........ Pam

Like most of you, I was sad when the Magic Kingdom Club went away. Then I was sad when the Disney Club went away. Now I am sad that the Disney Visa is not extending the same great vacation package offer to all of its loyal cardholders.

I sent a message to the Disney Visa folks over the weekend but so far have just gotten the canned response back. If I hear from them with an un-canned response, I'll let you folks know.

The Dis website is a great community and I'm proud to be a member.

I have not gotten a response from Disney yet but when I called BankOne today (again) the rep said I will be getting a letter in the mail. A canned response no doubt. She then told me that it was like buying a blouse at the store and then seeing it on sale 6 months later. I told her it was unfortunate that they saw it like that as so many people are upset.
I will wait a week or two but if they don't offer something to all member then when my tax refund gets here Bankone will be the bill I pay off right before I cut up their card.

That's not quite correct. In her example, you could still buy the blouse if you cared. What's happening here is that only people who had never shopped in the store before can buy the blouse--not the loyal customers who kept the store afloat at its beginning. If a store ran its business this way, they'd be out of business in short order.

I was never told that Disney Visa was "replacing" Disney Club nor have I ever expected it to. Gone are the days when you could get discounts and perks just for having a "preferred" card. Disney Visa/Bank One to me is just another credit card company. Not even a good one to boot. I am not that unhappy that I am not eligible for this deal because it is not something we would have used. As AP holders, the only thing they could offer to us is discounted room rates. I think this promised benefits and perks of this card have not been met. That is why I will join this e-mail campaign. I will let them know how overall this card is a disappointment to many of it's holders.

Very good analogy!!!

I e-mailed my complaint to both companies, and telephoned complaints.

I received my Disney Visa in December and have not used it yet, but I am not eligible for this offer. I let both companies know that I am questioning the benefits of having this card. We are going to WDW in June, if I do not benefit from this card in some way before then, I will cancel it.

I found this confirming the replacement?

In a cryptic note to current club members, Disney says that it will continue to bring new ways to connect to the Disney magic and will inform members as "exciting new opportunities develop." According to an article in the Orlando Sentinel, Disney says that it plans to replace the Disney Club with a "co-branded" Disney/Visa credit card in which cardholders will be able to earn points (presumably by charging up a fortune) for discounts on Disney vacations and merchandise.

I too was a former Disney Club member but when they changed to the Disney Visa offered by Bank One, I was out of luck. Why? I don't qualify to get the credit card. I do understand why card holders are upset that this offer is only made to new applicants. However, I just wanted to point out that there is another large group of Disney vacationers that were impacted by Disney's decision to eliminate the Disney Club which was open to all and replace it with a credit card that is only available to credit worthy Disney fans.

That's the boat I'm in, I don't qualify for the card. When I first booked our trip in 2002 I thought I would be able to join DC but they said they were doing away with the program. You're right, they did away with a program for all and replaced it with one that only some can take advantage of.

On a side note, this is our first trip to Disney. Initially we were spending 11 days at WDW and decided to go to Universal due to the great deals they offer through the use of the Fan Club card. We got a great rate for the Royal Pacific Resort and great price on theme park tickets so we shortened our WDW stay. Got the Royal Pacific for half the price of BC.:scratchin

I also just e-mailed both Disney and the disney visa people. If I receive a response I will let everyone know and if anyone else receives a response, please post it.
I was irritated today when I called and politely asked about the availability of the package and was told we were not eligible but we were eligible for 6 mos no interest when booking a WDW vacation. I mentioned that everyone was eligible for that. To that their was no response.
6 mos. no interest is no big deal. Until we opened the Disney visa card we just always paid in cash anyway.
If anyone gets a different type of response please let me know

I have gone back and forth in my head on this one. I've tried to look at it as marketing and there are lots of times where "new customers" get something. Examples are new magazine rates for new subsribers, a free month at the gym for new members etc. So, i have tried to figure out why I am so annoyed at this.
What I realized is that I am not annoyed that they are trying to get new customers and using an incentive to do it - I think that is normal marketing. What I am annoyed at is that I really got nothing to sign up for this card except a promise. "we will be offering discounts and disney values to card holders". Other than maybe a few catalog or disney store flyers with "deals" - questionable at that, we have gotten no theme park discounts of any value as a perk for having this card. In and of itself the "rewards" that you get are not that good and don't really justify this card versus other options out there. Basically - the marketing tool they used to get me was a promise that has not been kept.

I just tried to email disney but my email appears to be down. not sure if my message is permanently gone or just in email la - la land. I will re-check my sent messages later and see if it ever goes.
