For those in the know: Question about Mel's

I was at the Studios yesterday morning and they had Mel's diner all baricaded off. Are they revamping? (Hopefully revamping the menu too if so! )

Also on the studios side of stage 21 there was a bunch of 6ft chain link fencing all set out like in a maze- something they are using for HHN?

The park was great btw- in just under 2 hours from parking lot to parking lot I renewed my pass, did Shrek, BTTF, ET, MIB, Jimmy Neutron and did some shopping. Everything was a walk on. It was fantastic!

Mel's is being refurbished. I also saw the new wardrobe for the employees there. They look really cool!

Haven't seen the chainlink fence but my guess would be for HHN.

That must be it - it looked like a maze or a cue line the way it was laid out.

If they improve Mel's, I don't know who we'll complain about.
They could have huge crowds if they put a name brand in the building like McDonalds. Disney does that with french fry stands at the MK. But then people wouldn't visit the fancy places.
The thing about park restaurants that are counter service, is they serve so many people, there's no way they can wow people.

Oh Mel's has the wow factor alright, as in Wow! How can you make chili cheese fries taste bad?!

In all seriousness Mels is a bit lower than even your run of the mill park food.
And it's a shame becuase it's got a great location and vibe.

I agree. We tried Mel's once and we'll never go back. I'd rather spend a little more $$ and get real food (and a Pina Colada ) from Cafe La Bamba.

Gee - are we the only people to have had a decent meal at Mel's? It was nothing fancy - just a burger, chicken strips and fries - but it was cooked right, presented nicely and was tasty!

Of all the CS meals we've had at US - we thought this was the best!

Not just you, we did too. I don't know if we're eating at the same Mel's, but my chicken strips and burgers I've eaten here were just fine! When is Mel's reopening? Probably not for my trip (Oct 1st - 5th) ?
