Thought this might be of use for those people going on a cruise whilst in Florida.
I have just purchased an on board credit with Cunard, Who are owned by Carnival and bought $600 for £318. This is a rate of 1.89 which is far better than the bank rate, any unused credit is repaid in dollars.
Thought it might be worth those going on Disney cruises or Carnaival Cruise ( or any other cruise line sailing out of florida) to see if it is possible to prepay and therey save a few quid on the exchange rate.

Im going on a carnival cruise in a couple of weeks, this sounds like a very good idea as my DH and I are partial to a tipple or two (or three or four...) How did you do this? Is there a minimum amount of credit you can purchase?
Thanks

i phoned customer services at cunard and they did it over the phone, there was was no minimum amount, paid by credit card, there was no charge either for purchasing currency as it shows as a payment in sterling to Cunard, i would imagine Carnival will do the same as they own Cunard. It seems like a no brainer if you are going to spend on board.
Which Carnival ship are u on,we have sailed Fascination and Imagination a few times so if you want to know anything just ask.

We are doing a western cruise on Imagination. It is our 1st cruise and we dont know anything about cruising!!! Just hoping to turn up and fall into place.

I am concerened it will be wall to wall with people and we wont feel like we have had any time alone - but if I dont try I wont know.

I am going to call tomorrow and see if I can add some credit, might ask about a room upgrade (see if any are going cheapish) We have a oceanview room but would love a balcony!

Have a look at this site - loads of information. We found it extremely useful for our first cruise at Easter. Like a visit to Disney, being armed with the information in advance can make a great difference to your trip.

yes that is great site for information, also there is plenty of room on the ship, you wont be fighting for space.

have not called for the credit yet. Spent most of the day trawling the website that was recommended. I am getting a bit more excited now as have had alot of my worries reassured.
