I'm going through ROFR. Jason at the Timeshare Store just called with a new contract. I told Jason, "look, I'm packing for vacation, and trying to rent some of the excess points you got me in my last two resales, so I'm not interested!"

He said, "well your notes indicated The Villas at Wilderness Lodge, was your first choice........"

I replied in a small voice, "well, tell me about it, but make it quick, I'm going on vacation!"

He said, "270 Points at VWL, August UY, all 2003 (Banked) & 2004 points available, and all 2005 coming in in August. No 2003/2004 Maint Fees either. All for just $76.00 a point."

Well we all know VWL resales have been scarce since the August price increase (although, there are more at TTS than I have seen in 6 months, currently)

I replied, "&^@$^$% you! Let me ask the wife, can you hold it for an hour?"

"Sure he replied," I believe he started spending his commission at that point.

I was hoping the wife would yell, or say are you crazy, three re-sales before we've been home even once!, but no, wifey says, "If you think it's a good idea....."

So I'm going to ROFR yet again. So if you have any Pixie Dust to spare....

And should I survive ROFR, I'll have tons of VWL points to rent for this year, (hopefully by Feb.) as I already have two DVC Homecoming visits scheduled!

There goes my trip to Vegas, sigh.....

And of course all my contracts are different Use Years!!!! Please Caskbill hurry up with your point management program!

You are a wild man, greenban!!! I had no idea you were already the proud owner at three resorts and working on your fourth :earseek: How many total points will you own if you pass ROFR this time? Sending some PD your way :wizard: :wizard:

Enjoy your vacation too,
Lisa :flower:

Dear Lisa:

*IF* I pass ROFR (for the last time :cool1: ), I will be the proud owner of 1100 points. :Pinkbounc

I initially wanted VWL because of all the great posts about spending the Holidays there, :chat: but in July or August, no great contracts were listed at TTS :sad1: (The only reseller I knew at the time).

I took an OKW resale instead, that I thought was a good deal. (240 Banked 2003 points) With my recent 'experience it turned out to be a 'fair' deal, except for the price increase, which I just missed, making it a 'very good' deal.

I told Jason at TTS, that I would only take loaded contracts after that. (I expected they would not start comming so quickly).

He next called me with a BWV with 2003 points banked, 2004 points available, all 2005 points untouched, and no 2003/2004 Maintenance fees. (He is an evil man! He gave me just what I wanted :earseek: ). Much to my suprise, DW said yes!

:charac2: Now the twist in all this, is that I actually purchased this through a business that I own. My original plan was to use it for my family, and offer an occassional trip for exceptional employees with any 'left over' :earboy2: points. However, after talking to my accountant, I made it a 'business' purchase. I will reward each employee (of two seperate offices) a full week on their 5th, 9th, 12th, 14th and 15th year with me. (5,4,3,2,then 1 year intervals) with my family using any left over points. Now it all became a business expense. My original trip to WDW in May became a deductible expense because I toured the DVC then. My interest expenses are deductible, and best of all, my maintenance fees became a business expense as well.

So that is why I am such a wildman. I took the SSR 130 point add-on for the 12 years and free APs.

I thought I was done, until the phone call noted in the OP. Now I am still a novice, but I believe this is a 'GREAT' contract, and really would appreciate the masters' comments as well (The Great Dean, Beca, Dr. Tomorrow, tjkaz, MaryAnn, WebmasterDoc, Spiceycat, DVC-Don, jekjones1558+, Dr. P., Desnik, CaskBill, PumpkinBoy, CarolMN, Calypso*a*go-go, stacy6552, disneyqueen, the ever optamistic Pa@OKW and all the others I have inadvertently left out) if this is the proverbial 'loaded contract'.

So, now my problem is how to 'get rid of' 840 Banked points before 12/04. Whoops expiration date is 8/2005, DOH! I hope to do a lot of renting this year, and then use my points as intended next year.

So, until the fabulous MONORAIL DVC RESORT is built, I am officially done.*

* of course this may change once I actually make my first visit home!

+jekjones1558 opinion noted in prior reply - thanks

Wow! I hope it works out for you!! We're waiting for RORF on VWL with a bid of $77, nothing extra just '05 points coming with our use year. It's something we've should have bought when our add-on came through in May, at $84, but we foolishly thought we had enough! Now with the closing costs it's more money but, it's ONLY money. We need the bumper sticker that says we're Spending our kids inheritance. However, we are more than willing to share our time with them, so we think it's a great deal, for all generations.

Bobbi :cool1:

You are quite the shopper. I don't think you can do better than the banked 2003, all 2004 and all 2005, no maintenance for 2003 or 2004 contracts. And a good price to boot, especially for BWV and VWL properties! You have some lucky employees. I admire your courage in dealing with many use years. I can't trust my 57 year old brain to remember ---- anymore, so here's to computer assistance! If there is even a shadow of doubt in your mind about the wisdom of your purchases, I'm betting it will be gone once you've been "home." When and where are your trips scheduled?

You can donate some of those extra points to me ;) Seriously, good luck with ROFR and I hope everything goes well for you!

Can you donate your extra points (do they really expire today?) to a non-profit organization such as Make-A-Wish?

It might provide an additional tax deduction for your business and make some families very comfortable for their stay.

DVC may be willing to waive expiration date (do you think?).

No they do not expire today, I'm a little sleep derpived (depraved?) and stoopid! My earliest points expire 08/01/2005, the rest 01/01/2006.

And yes I would certainly donate expiring points to a worthy charity before wasting them. Sorry about the error, and I appreciate your attention to details and concern.

Happy, Healthy & Safe New Year to us all!

Your future is clear: BCV

Now that you remind me, I do remember reading a post that you made regarding your plans for your hard working employees! I really liked that idea. How do you deal with the business aspect of the points when you are using the leftovers :flower1: for your family?

Again, more pixie dust :wizard:

Weeeeellllllll, technically 'all' of my points will be used as business. I'll just have to schedule the annual corporate shareholders meetings (and I'm all of the shareholders!) at WDW, at the same time my family plans to take their family vacation.

What an amazing coincidence! :cool1:

"Hi Honey what are you and the kids doing here at WDW? Really? We had a vacation scheduled? Well, since I'm already here for the annual stockholders meeting, why don't you and the kids share my already paid for DVC room? No, it won't be crowded, all that was available when I booked was this lovely 2 BR (Grand Villa in my dreams!), so we'll all have plenty of room.!"

"Yeah I know there will be meetings and all that
(Think along the lines of the annual members meetings - 5 minutes start to finish!), but I'm sure I can find some time (like 23 hours - 55 minutes) to spend with you and the kiddos!"

"Hey, lets take the segway tour at Epcot, if its nice we'll offer it to the employees......"
Translation = Business Expense!

Official Disclaimer: This is hyperbole, a tongue-in-check post, it is humor! I would NEVER(nor would any DVCer) take any advantage of our fair and balanced tax code!

Please note I am not a financial/tax advisor/consultant and I do not play one on TV (Although I did stay at a Hilton Express Last Night....), therefore your mileage/jail time (ala Martha Stewart) may vary!

Happy New Year!
