For the beer snobs....a warning

I was so excited tonight to try a much raved about microbrewed beer. Well, I have managed to get down one bottle of this elixer and I am feeling a bit green at the gills...it is quite possibly the WORST beer I have ever laid lips on!

It is Terrapin Cream Ale....blech. I am not one to waste beer so I will drink this disgracefully expensive (yet nasty) six pack.

Just a warning for my fellow beer connoisseurs.

I recommend getting ANYTHING from Victory Brewing, Co... Not always easy to find, but awesome stuff... I would suggest Golden Monkey or Storm King.
GM has a 9% ABV, a 6-pack is alcoholically equal to about 13 nasty Bud Lights!
And it taste's GREAT!

Thanks guys for the recommendations. I am always thrilled to hear about good microbrews (especially with a high alcohol content ).

My favorite microbrewed porter is Tuckalechee porter from the Smokey Mtn. Brewery - hints of coffee and chocolate, absolute heaven.

I also really love Sweetwater brewery - their exodus porter is AWESOME and their Bluberry beer is light and crisp. Man, I wish I had bought one of these!

I LOVE German beer - have you ever tried Oberdorfer? It is EXCELLENT!

Definatly check out Delirium Tremens... Top 3 in my book (maybe #1), it's from Belgium, it is amazingly flavorful, and another high alcohol content.

Ohhhhh! I just looked it up - I love blonde beers and a 9% alcohol content, sounds promising!

You should love it; its corked - not capped, which is always nice... And it seriously has so much flavor in it its unbelievable. Its hard enough to drink an AB product as is, but after this, you'll never go back.

when I get a microbrew I'm not thrilled with, we end up using it as a base for fondue...only happened once though. If something's too hoppy for me, DH tends to like it.

Busch Light is my cheap beer of choice. I am a MICROBREW snob...I guess I should have been more specific. I generally buy a 12 pack of Busch Light and a 6 pack of microbrew every week.

Best mocrobrew I've had..I invented. Yummy stuff, made with dark, patent malts, coffee, molassass, dark brown sugar and ended up being like 24 proof...

Worst was something DH and I made. Trying to recreate a very nice ginger ale...a ginger flavored based ale that didn't work...ewwwwwwwwwwwww.


So, where I fit in on the snob scale??
