Sorry to do this,

I was wondering if near the front desk was most convienient to the food areas, or pool. We have 4 year old twins, but we will have a car.

thanks

The Springs is the section closest to the main buildings.

We stayed in the building with room #'s 4101-4436 and it was a short walk to pool. Room #'s 3501-3838 also look like a short walk.

Many people also enjoy the Congress Park area for the views and closeness to Downtown Disney. I think in your situation, depending on when your trip is, the Grandstand might be a good choice. It is fairly close to the middle of the resort and boat dock, plus there is the new splash area. I'm not sure when they will open the buildings over there, but it would be worth considering.

Even the farthest area from the center - Carousel, has things to recommend it to a family with a car - it is very close to the gate, and there isn't much foot traffic out there.

The Paddock and Congress Park have playground areas at the quiet pools, which is either a benefit or not, depending on how much you like to take your kids to playgrounds.

I don't think there is one "best" area necessarily. It depends on what your needs and preference are.

Look at a map and judge for yourself. The thing is everytime someone says one place is the best location, someone else claims another.

Congress Park will give you that view of DTD and the shortest walk there. It has its own pool.

Springs will give you the zero entry pool, activity center, and food court. Also there's a walkway to the ferry.

Grandstand will give you another pool, water play area, pool bar and shortest walkway to the ferry.

Paddocks is directly behind the Springs so it'll give you more scenic lake views, a bridge, good views of the swans, and has its own pool.

Carousel will give you front access to the gates and the emptiest busses. I believe there's a playground area and it tends to be the quietest. No pool or shared laundry though.

I'd suppose the farthest reaches of the resort (Carousel, far side of Paddocks, Congress Park and Grandstand) have the longest walks to the food court. Yet even then, it's not that far and busses run throughout the resort so you could hop on one if your legs are tired.

Here's a map you can study:

I'm afraid there is no playground area in Carousel. Just a BBQ pavilion (themed to look like a carousel) and a decorative fountain.

That's a really nice BBQ pavilion.

I stand corrected. And I've also located the walking distance map Caskill Bill did. Doesn't include the newer Carousel and Grandstand areas, but you can extrapolate from other distances.

From the looks of things, most everything in SSR is a 5-10 minute walk to the food court. You're probably at a 10-15 minute walk from the Carousel or the right section in the Paddocks. Another bridge spanning the lake between building 6101 would be helpful. It's short enough.
