Ok, this is a little OT. :goodvibes

I have been frantically searching for a dress to my first official formal wedding. Our close friends are getting married (the first of my DH childhood friends) next month and I had no idea what I wanted to wear. I looked everywhere and even tried getting ideas from fashion/style mags.

Well, yesterday I went out and picked out 2 dresses that I fell in love with!!! It was love at first sight! DH came with me last night we we chose the winning dress :)

Ok, the point to this whole thread is several of my VMK lady friends have requested pics. Some of you already viewed the dress, but I have included a close up of the fabulous detailing on the back! What do you think? Also, I was thinking about pulling the outfit together with silver accessories (shoes and bag). Is this a good idea or do you have a better one?
I am so used to wearing only black dresses (the magic color) that this rich plum color is a new world to me!

Oh, and to tie this thread into VMK, I will be wearing my purple/pink dress costume all day and night to celebrate this occasion! princess:

Beautiful MissBelle!! I love the color and it looks great on you! Dress shopping with the husband, not ever thought of doing that!!

I love the back detail and you know SorcMickey is going to tell you to turn around!! :rotfl:

Looks great.

I wouldn't go with the silver accessories though, a pink trucker hat and explorer boots would look much better. :rotfl2:

well what happened to the gloves??

yes and i agree with wolf a trucker hat and explorer boots will go perfect with it

or maybe the space suit pants?

oh and some jeans will go great with the top half of the dress

Love the dress, MissBelle! :) You look lava warm! I think silver accessories would be great. Something kind of sleek and modern maybe?

Oh my! Thanks for all the wonderful posts (fellas ;) ).

As for the accessories: (Wolf, I do NOT wear trucker hats irl or on VMK :rotfl: - how would everyone be able to see my tiara :sunny: ). I was thinking sleek and modern too. The wedding is in NY, An afternoon wedding and evening reception. It is on the 10th so open toe shoe is still ok right?? LOL I am telling you I am not used to all this formal stuff!! :earseek: My mind is boggled!

I LOVE the detailing on the back!!!!! :Pinkbounc I would go with some silver accessories, but not too much of that fake silver stuff. I would personally get a diamond (or fake it lol) necklace and bracelet and maybe a small black or silver bag. Don't overdo the silver, it is kind of out! :earboy2:

Fabulous, dahling!

I think an open toed shoe is still fine, and I like the other suggestion of
delicate accessories, if you have them.

I like the long "chandelier" earrings you're wearing, and I think a nice
bracelet, if you have it, would go well.

Personally, I think sometimes people overdo the accessories. If you're going
for bold earrings, leave off the necklace, go for the bracelet. If the
earrings are understated, you can draw attention to a necklace.
(But that's just my .02.)

I heart the dress. :)

I totally agree with BriarRosie here. Open toed shoes - sure! Not too many accessories. And I like the diamond/fake diamond suggestion too. I heart sparkles! :)

I Love the dress. The color is perfect on you. It is also timelessly beautiful so you could wear it again for another special occasion. I would probably go with the less is more on the accessories.

:thewave: Also, I have to say that it is incredible that you were able to get the perfect dress for the occasion when you were looking. Because it never works that way for me. LOL If I'm not looking I find it, but if I'm looking it's one bad ensemble after another... The dress goddess was on your side!!!!

Oh my don't I know it!
What my op had failed to mention was HOW LONG AND HARD I have been searching for THE dress. It was already difficult to know what style...everything i tried was either too "party over here-woot woot" or too...."showy". Nothing worked out. I had one dress in mind yesterday when I went out before...but something just didn't set right about it. Yes it was only $60, but it also looked like it was only $60 ;)
So when I went into Hecht's (for the 3rd time in 5 days) and found these two dresses (the other dress was same style but was black/sparkle material. I had to try on the dresses for DH a few times before he helped me decide.

So yes, I am quite happy with the outcome! The Lord was on my side :cloud9:

*tears* My sea star looks just like a princess!! princess: Make sure you take lots of pics at the wedding!

I love it! That is so pretty :earsgirl:

Pics?? Of course!!! I have only seen DH in a tux one other time in my life (OUR wedding). Plus, the tux better be made of GOLD since he is paying $175 to rent it for a few hours!!! :rotfl:
But anyways, we are so happy for our friends  That and DH and I LOVE to dance our tails off. Can't wait to see the dress in action...

You look great! Silver would look ok, but I would try getting a darker silver, not a very light one. :) You would look great anyways though!

Oh it's beautiful!! I LOVE the color. I just bought a suit that color and just love wearing it. I agree with everyone that said don't overdo the accessories.

You look Mah-va-lous, Darling!
Really the dress looks great on you. congratulations on a successful shopping excursion! (I dread shopping myself, so I appreciate all the thought and time that went into finding that perfect dress!)
