For my sanity...I hope everyone online reads this

Frankly, the "hidden disability" issue generally pertains to someone needing an accommodation (for example, a handicapped placard for their vehicle or a wheelchair) when to the naked eye, that person appears to be able-bodied.

I understand that... I've read those threads and they can get quite heated. :upsidedow

What I'm refering to is the tendency in those threads for everyone to claim a hidden disability and the expectation that everyone else should accomodate them. I'm deeply empathetic of those who have major challenges. But after a while in those threads you get the sense that everyone interprets their own little struggles as being bigger than they actually are.

I could probably make a case that I have a mathematics learning disorder. But I don't just toss out numbers and expect others to make heads or tails out of them. I have to worker harder than other people do at balancing my checkbook or coming up with a budget or increasing a recipe to feed 12.

So I work harder. It seems that these days more people don't want to have to make a greater effort. They just want to "be themselves" and expect others to work around them. That's what I find inconsiderate.

I admit, I used to have trouble with definitely. But I can't keep Effect and Affect straight to save my life. I just know I should rarely use affect.

While we're at it though, let's stop using "myself" - it's almost always "me" or "I"

"Jenny and Myself failed grammar school"

Amen again! (Or at least, let's all vow to stop using the word "myself" as a pronoun.) That drives me INSANE.

:lmao: The sample sentences were great! I was glad to see lose and loose. Now they just need to add advice/advise!

And how many chester drawers did I see?? I don't think I saw Armoire spelled right once!

If I saw chester drawers on Craigslist, I would think they were selling some dude's undies! But I guess that would be Chester's drawers... :lmao:

Why can't people just be themselves???

edit to add: what you consider consideration is different to another...that is what makes us all different ..again I just want to be myself and not worry about weather anything or everything I type is going to offend someone b/c I can't make everyone happy just not going to happen...

When I see people use words incorrectly, I always wonder - do these people ever read anything (besides message boards with their numerous spelling errors)? Do they just not pay attention? Do they just not care? I mean, you MUST see the word "weather" several times a day. Do you read the paper? Do you watch the news to see what the temperature will be tomorrow? Do you ever flip to the Weather Channel?

As mean as it will sound, when I see an error like that, I think that person has a lower intelligence or a learning disability - the same as if I handed a cashier $5.00 for an item that cost $4.50 and they couldn't make change. It's a basic skill that should be learned and used.

Just my two cents.

Did anyone notice the title of this thread?

Does that mean the OP will go crazy if everyone (on the internet?) does NOT read the article.
