Okay I guess. Now I have to wait for her DR to call. At this point we are going to think of this as no news is good news.

OK, Some of you dont know me.....its been a while since I have been on(Love's Bro in law, married her sis)....
My son Mitch just turned 16, we just bought him a car......(1998 Lumina)......
Ladies, you dont have a clue what stress is until you see your 16 year old drive out the driveway on his own......you want to run after them.....

A few days of driving to school my son tells me he isnt burning any gas up....I asked him where he's been....he says just to school and back (we live less than a mile from the school).....but he tells me he has put 231 miles on the car already...I said No way, you couldnt have put that many miles on .....He tells me I'm wrong, he has......I accuse him of driving to his girlfriends house 20 miles away...(he isnt supposed to go there yet)..he says he hasnt done that.....typical dad, I'm kind of a jerk about it......he tells me he reset the trip meter when he started driving the car..... I finally go out to his car to take a look at it......the trip meter was for 23.1 miles not 231....I felt so stupid, had to go aplogize to him...and then show him how to read the thing.........

Few days later my son tells me "Dad, I have to tell you what I did today"- I was driving down the road and saw an ambualance with its lights on.....He told me he pulled right over, but then he saw it was stopped so he just sat there, he was afraid to pass it on a double yellow line........he told me "Dad I just sat there on the shoulder waiting, cars started passing me, then the ambulance..........I thought maybe I should just go slowly........Then he started watching the ambulance....he kept seeing someone lean out of the ambulance..........He then realized...."Holy crap, its the mailman"........I about fell out of my chair laughing at him.................Just wait ladies!!!!

Argh UJ. I am next. My oldest is turning 16 in April. She hasn't finished drivers ed yet, so I have a small respite.

It will be a sickening feeling.....serious.......tonight he is spending the night at his buddies house.......drove there himself.......I talked to the parents where hes at.......no going anywhere without talking to dad.....
He is ony allowed 1 person in the car at a time with him....no cell phones on.......so far he's been good.........as far as I know anyway!!!!

I am dreading that moment. In California the first year they are driving they can only have licenced adults as passengers. So I like that. And I told her absolutely NO cell phone.

Nope, keeping him low profile......Thats why I like the 4 door silver Lumina....plain jane........

In Mi. you have to get 50 hours driving total with parent before the final phase...... (they have 3 phases..) He started back in June '08. You can take the first phase at 14 1/2....too young in my opinon.......
He has done very well, he took his final road test 2 weeks ago.....instructor said he was the best he has had in quite a while......you take a cone test first, then out on the road, a parent has to ride along for the road test, but you cant say anything......I was waiving my hands at him in the back seat......"slow down, speed up, turn signal"......he chewed me out after the test.......I was a wreck........thought he was going to fail......he did great....(sorry, dad bragging)

I'm still scared to death.....I have been to too many fatal accidents in my day.......

I know only too well about the fatal accidents. I dateda highway patrolman years ago. Now I have to pick Scotty up from work so I am off to the busy highway again. Nice seeing you UJ.
