Hey quick question, I was reading one of my new books and he mentions seeing Tom Sawyer, is there a Tom Sawyer character at Disneyworld?

This is good to know! I'm really hoping we don't get a court-loving attorney.
Do you have personal experience with this? Just wondering since it sounds like you've done this before...

I am in law enforcement and go to court all the time.....judges dont like to hear civil stuff.....they really dont like divorce cases (civil).....she did this, he did that...blah blah blah......settle it behind closed doors.....

I would assume they will want to settle on a $$$ amount.....I dont know all the particulars of your case but I am sure a furniture store doesnt want the furniture back either.....
Most attorneys for a furniture co. or even where your husband works are on a retainer (paid a flat fee yearly) so it is of no interest for them to drag it on and on...billing you by the hour. They would just prefer to get it over with if they can make you or the furn. co. happy.
I know you think you are going to get on the stand and tell your story, probably not going to happen (it does sometimes).

I know in the area where I work if I have court on a friday afternoon (summertime) I am not going to go to court that day.....judge will make the attorneys reach an agreement quickly (even on criminal stuff) so he can get to the golf course for his 1:30 tee time...(no joke).

There's the whole Tom Sawyer island thingie at the Magic Kingdom, isn't there?

So what are you all asking Santa for Christmas this year??

My list is:
- Magic Bullet (no, it's not that kind!!). It's a mini food processor so I can make baby food from whatever we are eating
- Baby Wrap
- some scrapbook supplies like glue and stickers
- cookie sheets and cookie cutters
- slippers

Nothing too extraordinary.

Tom Sawyer Island

It's across from Frontierland and includes a fort, barrel bridge, caves, etc. Think of it as a big playground without swings or slides...just a great place to run around.

I gotta admit, that's the first thing I thought of.

I want tickets to see Jeff Dunham in Fairfax on January 2nd.

Oh and to get to it you have to stand in a raft -- just like you were Huck Finn!

I have never been to Disneyworld and at Disneyland I don't ever remember seeing him. And we don't have a Tom Sawyer Island anymore. It is now a pirates lair and that is mainly where Capt. JAck and the rest of the pirates hang out now.

I want more of this wonderful Merino wool yarn I found that I have been crocheting with. And to take knitting classes after the first of the year.

I dont think so...been on the island, in the fort, ate the cold chicken from the rest. on the island (aunt polleys kitchen?) (sucked) Only thing I could think is someone thought the guy who steers the raft across the river to the island dressed up in western wear is Tom Sawyer......No statues I'm aware of, I think his name is on some rocks on the island......
help me here ladies.....I'm getting old !!!

Oh, then bummer for me! My court time is a Monday morning!

Actually, I really don't want to get on a stand at all either...I just want my lawyer and their lawyer to work it out. I'm so frustrated with them, that I don't even want to talk to the furn co anymore.

Fairfax? As in Virginia??? Is he at the Patriot Centre??

Yeah, I thought with this crowd I better explain the Magic Bullet..

from all Ears:

INTRODUCTION

Located across the Rivers of America in Frontierland and accessible only by raft, Tom Sawyer Island offers children a fun place to run and explore and blow off steam, while grown-ups can sit and sip a cool drink.

ATTRACTION

Tom Sawyer Island -- A giant-sized playground geared to youngsters, Tom Sawyer Island is inspired by the famous works of author Mark Twain.

Guests board a motorized raft at a dock located just at the foot of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad over to the island. The raft ride takes only a few minutes. At the dock on the island, guests can sit in rocking chairs and play checkers, or begin to explore the grounds. Maps are posted periodically -- be sure to check where you want to go, as paths meander every which way.

There are dark passageways and caves to explore, an old mine, a scary, bouncy, rope bridge, a barrel bridge (below right), and the focal point, an old-fashioned fort, named Fort Langhorn (Twain's real name was Samuel Langhorn Clemens). Kids will have fun exploring all four corners of the fort, playing with the noisy air rifles and cannons, then venturing into the dark "escape tunnel."

TOURING TIPS

Keep your eyes on the time -- Tom Sawyer Island usually opens a little later than the rest of the park, and it normally closes at dusk.

If you ever read the famous stories of Tom Sawyer and his friend Huck Finn, you'll have read of their fence whitewashing exploit. Keep your eyes peeled for large bristle whitewash brushes scattered around the island. If you find one and turn it in to a Cast Member, you'll get special surprise -- perhaps a FastPass to a favorite attraction!

Restrooms are located at the raft landing and also inside Fort Langhorn.

Guests must be ambulatory to get around Tom Sawyer Island -- with its rugged terrain and winding paths, it is NOT wheelchair friendly.

INTERESTING FACTS

Tom Sawyer Island opened in the Magic Kingdom in 1973.

Initially, the highlights of Tom Sawyer Island were called Injun Joe's Cave, Magnetic Mystery Mine and old Fort Sam Clemens. The fort's name was changed in 1996 after the release of the Disney movie Tom and Huck, which featured a Fort Langhorn.

Umm as the oldest one here.... I umm okay you're old.

:rotfl2:

I know the Mark Twain stuff. He loved California. I have been to Calaveras County more than once he used to stay in that area. THey have frog jumping contests there. Either they are because of something he wrote or he wrote about them because he saw them.

Useless info I know.

I really must leave now. It's Scotty's turn on the laptop. I share well.

Never seen him live. Only on TV. I SO want to go. I could have gone to Hershey tonight to see him, but I didn't find out about it until last week. I asked my sister if she wanted to go see him next month and she said she would. My son wants to go too. She asked me if I thought the swearing would be too much for my son. I was like, HELLO, you do remember we took him to see OZZY last year, right? Jeff Dunham does not drop the F bombs nearly as much as Ozzy does. I look at it this way...the child hears worse on the school bus. He's going to hear it anyway. So what's the big deal? Now if I ever catch him saying it he may not live to see age 11.

Sorry Michele! Just realized you were only asking about the CHARACTER of Tom Sawyer and not the island. Well, I gave you more info than you ever wanted to know.

I've never seen any Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn characters on the island. Like UJ said, just the captain of the rafts dressed in period costume.
