Muzzle loader season ended yesterday.....shoot bucks or does then,,,,,,it is now late doe seaon (today) for private land only......I have 2 doe tags to fill...( I cna buy more, but prob. wont).....
I had a monster buck about 180 yards away last night,,,I was using a grunt tube and he turned and was coming my way.....then a doe snorted....and they all took off......I was sick to my stomach....it was a trophy......bigger than anything I have ever seen in 21 years of hunting.....I can shoot a buck with my bow now.....but the chances of that are slim after 4 weeks of gun season......they are very skiddish right now......I love venison too....very lean meat.....do you and DH hunt??

Ah ok gotcha. That sucks about the huge trophy buck. My 2nd cousin got a 9 pointer on opening season day. He was very proud of himself. My other cousin got an 8 pointer. Don't think anyone else got anything that day. Maybe you will see that trophy buck again next season if he lasts that long. I have never hunted. I'll eat the meat but I don't think I could kill one myself. I would probably be like the guy on the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall where he bawls after he kills the pig (if you haven't seen that movie, you should). Chris hunts every now and again. He's gone every other year since I have known him. My Dad used to hunt every season on opening day. Now he will only hunt if the weather is nice up in PA while he is up there.

I love it, its my sanity time.....as soon as I get off work I head to the woods......this late in the season I hunt about 2 hours in morning and 1 hour at night....its the only time they move.....

well that's good that you have something that you enjoy that much. It's better than some of the other hobbies some men have. And it provides meat so it saves you some $ throughout the year . Hope you are able to see that buck again before the season is over.

I have an exciting morning since I get to see DisneyMomMom!!! Can you believe she is visiting people only 10 minutes away from me It hasn't been easy for us both to find a time to meet but we are going to have lunch today for a quick hour so that we can see each other!

Things here have been busy like everyone else! Lots of snow and scary roads...lots of LATE night's at the Disney store and lots of runny noses

Wow - hope we get to see pics and hear all about it.

sounds very awesome indeed! Nice and relaxing. I love venison. Are you hunting doe or buck or both? I was in PA when hunting season started for deer and it was nuts. Hunters everywhere. I think it's funny that all the stores are closed and schools are closed for the first day of hunting season there. It's just not like that here in GA

Wow! That is wild. The two times I ate venison.. I didn't care for it. Guess I'm just a city girl.

Everyone ready for Christmas?! I have to wrap about 7 more things (2 are quite small) this evening, and I have to buy a couple more things as well and wrap what I buy. Then I need to clean my house up in case anyone comes over at some point. My Christmas decorations look nice, but I have clean clothes on the sofa & Loveseat that need to be put away, and I have my stuff for wrapping all over my living room floor right now. Then the kitchen and bathrooms need to be cleaned and all the tile floor needs mopping. Whew! I'm tired just writing about it!!

Anyone work Thursday? I have to come in for a few hours. As soon as I am done with my work (10:30 to 11ish) I am OUT OF HERE til next Monday! (Then I am off next Thursday and Friday)

No increase in pay unfortunately. little bit ticked at that....but I now get paid vacation time and sick time. I have to wait 90 days for it. But no big deal, as no vac plans til late in the year

Doing OK, went hunting this am......(I took 3 days of vacation time and get 10 days off work w/holidays, and weekends....woooo hoooo)....making dinner then heading back to the woods........just sit in my blind w my little heater and read a book and wait for the deer to move........life is good!!!!

Betsy, its DisneyMomMom! I had a great time and it was so nice to see you and Stinkerbelle. I really enjoyed our visit. Well now we now where you are, we may get over that way more often. we'll have to drag Nikki over there in May as I think we are staying there instead of at Bryan's Mom's in Johnstown!

The roads over there were a dream compared to here in south Jersey! they are horrible, a lot of the secondary roads have barely been cleared and there is slush that turned back to ice all over the place! Yikes!

Hi Nikki, it's Karen! We sure missed you being with us! It was so last minute as I wasn't sure I could get away but I did, which worked out great! It gave him time with his sister alone and I got to go see betsy for an hour.

I saw the snow when I was in Louisiana, we had about an inch and it stayed overnight and I made a snowball the next morning and its in my freezer, lol.
