For ladies only

Elita cotton undies and bras from BareEssentials.com are the most comfortable. Jockey high-cut and hipsters are also pretty good.

Thong? I've tried them on...horrible. I'd sooner walk around with a strand of dental floss riding up my *** :rolleyes1

.. Being on the more endowed side, I still haven't found a sports bra that fits me...still in the underwire age!!!

That's what I thought until I tried those Bestform. Very, very comfortable. And I'm no 34B.

I like the Fruit of the Loom boxer-type briefs. I think they're called mini-boxers. They're all cotton and I find them to be quite comfy. Thongs are okay too depending on what I'm wearing.

I wear Maidenform boyshort cut no line undies. They are 100% cotton and very comfortable. You can find them in major department stores-I usually buy them in Kohls or Macy's. Kohls, particularly, has sales on them often.

Add me to those who just can't wear thongs. I find them unbelievably uncomfortable. And I have tried, believe me. It just feels like I have a permenant wedgie. But hey, different strokes!

As for bras, I have so many different kinds. I like the Hanes Her Way ones, too, Barely There and certain Bali ones. I am a little on the large size in the chest area so if I don't get the proper support it kills my back.

Champion makes a sturdier sports bra -
Did you watch Oprah? She reccommended a $58 sport bra - :earseek:
I feel the same way about trying to find cotton, but I also need not have a huge 4 hook dealie either! As long as I buy them every 3 or 4 months, I havent noticed a difference, I buy em on sale (Kohls had some that worked!) and once they start heading south, I head to the mall!! (and I go to the outlet too - some great deals there!!) It just takes so long finding my size!! :teeth:

( Body by Victoria it is!! and I have tried the thongs, as long as you get a pair that are comfy - not all thongs are alike - you do go around with a naughty smile on your face!! :rotfl: )

Wow what great suggestions! I think I will make the trip to VS and see what they got. I already do the no underwear thing at home, and I mean no underwear. I am very small chested so a bra is really not even a big thing for me, I do have a nice VS bran that I wear when I go out into public, don't want to offend anyone. But I decided that since we are going to Vegas in a couple of days I am going to nix the underwear..like they say what goes on in vegas stays in vegas! Anyway thanks for the great suggestions, it is nice to know I can depend on the DIS family for help..

I vote for the body by victoria line or even the VS pink line. I think I'm wearing my thongs wrong b/c it feels like a permanent wedge up my butt (constant wanna pick it feeling) - or maybe I'm getting them too big? So if any of you have some VS comfy faves feel free to pass the info along my way - I'm willing to try again since I hate a panty line. And I'll admit to being panty free some days, esp during the summer.

These are terrific:

I've been wearing Jockey undergarments for 3 years now. They are so lightweight and comfortable that I disgarded all others. They're sold at Kohls, Nordstrom, Macys, Lord & Taylor, etc. Very easy to pack, as well - quick drying as well.

Try a pair and you will love them. They come in full brief, hipster, french cut, thong and bikini styles.

I think the Jockey string....haven't found a thong I can wear more then once every 6 months....to uncomfortable....but I've never tried VS

Fruit of the Loom bikini cotton is nice also. No ride up in shorts. Nice smooth look in the back too.

Good luck with your choices and have a great trip.

:earseek: Me too, always willing to help a Dis'er willing to ask!

Believe it or not, go to Victoria's Secret - I am an xl so bear with me!! lol

They have this style of undies that have lycra/spandex, they may be that new fiber that breathes too (I was a cotton only girl btw!) I dont think its their angel line - you just go and feel!!! ( :rotfl: sorry I dont remember the name, I just know 'em when I see 'em) You see dh is a runner, and he has to have the certain brand that doesnt ride up, and that 'wicks' away moisture, well, when I discovered them at VS - I couldnt believe it!! They are the more expensive brand, maybe 3 for $25 on sale??? (3 for $30)

Now this brand does come in all styles, thongs, bikini, hipsters - I've always loved bikini because it goes under my belly sag ( :earseek: tmi)

I'll go see if I can find a link!! Well, didnt find them there... lol

good luck, you cant imagine how many times I've almost deleted this

I think I saw these the other day. I really wanted to buy some, but they are SO expensive. I liked the hipsters, silky, no-line, low fit, and GREAT colors! Icould just imagine how smooth they must feel on. :cloud9: So, do you have them? Do you love them? All I need is a little nudge to talk me into getting some!

BTW, I often wear thongs as well. Believe it or not they can be VERY comfortable. You just have to try a few things until you find what you like! EVERYONE is different!! :earboy2:

I too, like boyshorts or thongs in either microfiber or cotton. I get the size 14/16's from Lane Bryant Cacique and they are even more comfortable than Victoria's Secret (which was all I used to wear, but got tired of the limited amount of xl items) In fact, the other day I was thinking about the few pounds I've lost recently and I was thinking that the worst thing when I drop another size will be, I won't be able to wear Cacique! I don't think I can go back to VS after how comfy and stylish they are!

On a semi-related note, under a clingy knit or a dress, nothing beats "Lipo in a Box"! Comfortable, light and slimming!

To the OP, I would look for microfiber or cotton fabrics and a style that appeals to you- be sure not to get them too big- that is a mistake a lot of women make and when panties sag in the back or have enough room to come up out of the top of pants or shorts in the back it looks truly awful. For under jeans, etc. cotton is best, but under a dress or the like, definitely go for a microfiber boyshort or perhaps a high leg style. :goodvibes

Okay, the information you can find on these boards is amazing!!

Just told DH, we're off to the mall tomorrow (after preparing for the hurricane - Go AWay Katrina!!!) to see what VS has and maybe a side trip to Wal-Mart. Never thought about a sports bra. The older I get (over 50) the more undies bother me!!

Thanks everyone!!

I personally love Microfibre underwear. I find them very comfortable, you almost forget you have them on. I also find they are a little more supportive than just plain cotton underwear. They are a nylon/spandex/cotton mix. The thing I enjoy about microfibre the most is it doesn't tend to ride up and give you wedgies like most underwear, and you really don't get the underwear lines from them. They lay pretty smooth.

i agree and was going to say the same thing...ok not to get real personal but i like the string bikini kind ,much nicer and cooler than briefs...I can't take the thong "feeling" but these don't move around at all, I'm old but not into granny panties so the microfiber strings are not ugly but comfy, best of both world's

I'll second Laurajean1014 - I used to be a thong girl, but last year I tried these (or a similar Jockey style, being in NZ) in black for a quick backpacking trip in Europe, and I swear by them now - all the cuts I've tried are comfy, the fabric feels great against your skin even when you're hot and 'glowing' and never a pantyline to be seen. When I got back from the trip I immediately bought em in 3 more colors :-) Otherwise, give thongs a go for a week (not just a day) to really decide properly - have fun shopping! :flower:

Honeymo78, try going up one size rather than down one size. If your thong is too tight it can give that rather too-intimate feel. A size bigger should take care of the problem. :)

The Body by Victoria are all I wear anymore. They are comfortable, lots of colors and fit very well. And they go on sale when ever VS has their big sales. Usually twice a year. Once you start buying from them, they start sending you coupon for $5 off on a bra or a free pair of Body by Victoria. I think I got three or four free pairs.

Nudging aksunshine I agree with Deb, they are smooth, the wear is great, I'll also second what another poster described as the bikinis are very comfortable, but you can look and decide what you will be comfy with... definately check out the sales, and the coupons - well worth it!! and it is something you wear everyday, so you should go with quality, no riding up with these!! I wash them with everything else in the regular wash, and I dry them bone dry with the other clothes - and they are holding up fantastic, my first pairs look as good as my latest (I just bought a couple at a time... now its all I'll buy!!)

:goodvibes its a wonderful thing :cloud9:

Question for all you Body by Victoria users. I simply love mine that I've had for a few years (when they first came out). The fabric is WONDERFUL at first, but after repeated washings/dryings, they lose their softness. Do you all hand wash and line dry your undies? I've given up on them because the fabric changes after a while.

On a different note, I just tried some new undergarments by Barely There. They are the new low rise boycut style in a cotton/spandex/nylon blend. They have no tag to itch and no panty lines at all. Very stretchy and very comfortable!

Some of these posts have really made me laugh! And some of these posts would make for great tags! Beware!! :rotfl:

I'm probably going to regret getting into this one, but I gotta tell ya....don't knock the thongs until you've tried them! ;) Not to put too fine a point on it, but you avoid the 'creeping up' sensation (they're already there!) because they're cut so small in back that you don't (ahem....) notice the feeling after a while. I wouldn't be without them.

Ok...since you aren't likely to run out to the nearest thong shop, just be sure to find 100% cotton. Florida is hot, you're going to 'glow' (ok, sweat), and cotton will be the most comfortable choice. I have no idea what brand will best suit your shape, but I do know cotton will be essential.

I'm a thong girl too. They must be cotton and they must be a size or so larger than your normal size. This will prevent them feeling snug, which is not a comfortable sensation, I call it "snapping you in the a**". I think that is what non-thong people have a problem with. The Gap makes the most comfortable underwear I have come acrooss for a fair price and they last and last. I get them in black, white and nude, I do the same with bras. This covers all the clothing bases. The high rise thongs are best if you have a bit of tummy but, you must then wear high wasted pants to avoid the "oh so unattractive butt flossing" look. To avoid panty peek you should wear lowrise panties, probably not a probelm since you are 50, I assume you are not wearing lowrise pants (I'm 30 with a pretty good figure and I won't even go there). This reminds me, I could use some new undies for the trip! Better head to the Gap outlet!
