How is it possible to say you support education without supporting those professionals within the system? Giving them impersonal mandates and standardized tests? It's one of the things that has frustrated me the most about this administration- Bush stinks.

I couldn't agree with you more! Well said!

Didn't you just love it when Bush's Education Secretary Ron Paige called the NEA "a terrorist organization"? What a total and complete ***! Then again, look at his boss.

I've spent the entire afternoon perfecting my cocaine topped pizza recipe. I think it's going to work wonders on election day.

All I have are those "special" brownies recipe... oh well, they'll have to do. ;)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a tried and true winner. :)

Just remember....no snacks till AFTER they vote....

AND....no taste testing!!!;)

Hello All! I hope everyone is doing well tonight.

A teacher/friend/co-worker of mine got to attend a Kerry rally in Dayton today. I'm so jealous. He also said that a semi with "Vote the Bible, Bush has Morals" drove around the stadium. When it stopped at a traffic signal, several people plastered it with "Bush Lied" stickers!:teeth:

Hi! I just thought I'd stop in to report on the rally in Pittsburgh at Carnegie Mellon tonight :D

It got started pretty late, they opened the "gates" at 3:00 and when I got out of class at 4:00 there was practically nobody in the fenced-in area for ticket holders yet. I didn't have a ticket so I stood right outside the fence with some other people. The crowd control was pretty bad... the security screenings were taking so long that they let a ton of people go in without being screened right before Kerry spoke. Finally at around 5:00, Liz Berlin and Jenn Wertz from Rusted Root played four songs to start things off. A lot of local politicians, the head of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, and Joe Hoeffel made speeches, as well as Franco Harris and Ted Danson (who is a Carnegie Mellon alumnus). Bon Jovi played two songs acoustic, "Living on a Prayer" and something I couldn't hear very well because everyone was talking.

Kerry finally came on at 6:15-6:30ish. Teresa made a short speech and then he spoke. I saw him for about 30 seconds by standing on my tiptoes and looking between people's heads ;) There was a great turnout and it was really exciting to see everyone cheering and holding up signs. He talked a fair amount about health care and the job losses under Bush. I ended up leaving early because I couldn't feel my toes anymore :guilty:

He's got my vote. And I'm excited I actually got to see him! :teeth:

Don't you know it! Teachers are just awful, evil human beings. :earseek:

Their unions strong arm them and force them to vote Democratic and then the teachers turn around and try to brainwash innocent children.

I haven't quite figured out why teachers who are perfectly willing to brainwash children have to be forced to vote Democratic, but I'm sure if I look long enough, I'll figure the logic of that one out.

Then again, I'm having problems figuring out just how it is a teacher's union can force you to vote a certain way when there's no way to prove how you voted, but I'm sure, given time, I'll figure that one out too.

Sorry, but you think there may actually be logic in this thinking? :) It seems too many of the Bush supporters believe logic isn't needed if one's faith is strong enough. If not, how could they continue to fall for his administration's lies?

OK, I'll admit I don't know much about drugs but wouldn't the effects of the special ingredient in the pizza be at least partly counteracted by the effects of the special ingredient in the brownies?

Well that may be true but if it works to get the votes I'm okay with it. You know what crafty folks we liberals are.::yes:: :teeth:

I got to see him a few weeks ago in Madison. I was lucky enough to "score" some of the blue tickets, or the ones in the middle. Even so, I had to stand on my tip-toes. Bush has been in and out of the state recently. I've been thinking about seeing him too (even though I already voted ;)). Who knows where they stick the Kerry supporters!

I shook Mr. Kerry's hand in St. Louis after the second debate. I was lucky enough to sit with the Veterans for Kerry at the rally after the debate. I was happy to get a chance to see him in person. Teresa, his daughter and his sister were with him. He looked great, spoke well and wowed the crowd.

Just found a cannabis related website with a logo on it for Canada's New Democratic Party. Sounds like we may not be the Democrats the Republicans are talking about. :)

Here are the names' of the recipes they have listed:

Haschich Fudge from the 1954 Alice B. Toklas Cookbook
Majoon Montezuma, an Indian recipe with an aztec flavor
Sil's Bud Bars should give you a good buzz
Regular Cookies, some tips for your next batch
Stoney Brownies, what to do with 'useless' leaf
Chocolate Truffles, a fantastic way to enjoy chocolate and THC
Oatmeal Squares, simple, quick, and tasty
Scooby Snacks, great motivation for crime fighting
Caramel Corn, Tasmanian style
Smooth & Creamy choclopottie ice cream

Outside. Bush "rallies" are private events where all participants are prescreened. No, I'm not kidding.

I wish that any of these guys ever came to Texas. Texas is such a given though  that there's no reason to bother. I wish that we could turn that around somehow.

The early voting stations in Austin at least have been packed and I've heard reports in other areas. People who rush to the polls are typically voting for change.

In no way do I think TX will go for anyone but Bush, but I think our numbers are going to suprise some people and make them not write us off so quickly the next time.

If there is one thing about Bush supporters that I will never understand if I live to be 150, it is how they can just completely shut out reality. And, then make up a new one.

I think Bush supporters just got so wrapped up in the Bush they saw at the WTC, which btw was completely staged and scripted by Karl Rove, to the point where it feels disloyal to question.

And then there's my personal favorite: Bush supporters use logic to come to their conclusions, unlike the emotional Democrats. Hahahahaha!

You can't make this stuff up.

You couldn't get near the governor's mansion in Austin when Bush was governor. And this was waaaay pre-9/11.

And just remember one thing: The first thing the Bush administration did was set up another layer of management you had to go through to get to Bush. How better to keep control of Bush's image than to make him less accessible?

How's this for a carefully crafted image; that ranch in Crawford that the Bush people like to pretend is just a place for a cowboy to come home too? Well, it was purchased in 1999 when Bush decided to run for President. There are no horses on that "ranch" and there are 3 longhorns, 2 of which were given to Bush as a gift and the 3rd one was born to the longhorn Bush named "Elton". Go figure.

And that old-fashioned style ranch house you see in the photo ops? That's not where the Bush family lives. Their house is completely off-limits.

Everything about this President is staged, except when he's fumbling, mumbling, scowling, and pursing his lips during press conferences and debates.

The voting places here in Florida are packed too. And you're abolutely right, people don't come out in droves to re-affirm the incumbent, but to give him the heave-ho.
