I am not sure it is legal to pay people to pick up absentee ballots, anyone know for sure?

In Wisconsin it's legal.

Both Kevin Kennedy, executive director of the state Elections Board, and an election clerk in Brookfield said they had received complaints that the Republican Party has been telling people not to return absentee ballots by mail and instead hold them for party officials to pick up and deliver.

"It's legal, but it certainly raises real questions. We don't want voters giving their ballots to someone they don't know," Kennedy said.

Chris Lato, spokesman for the state Republican Party, denied that the party had organized any such efforts.

Good morning from the bright and sun-shiney Golden State, all you true believers, defenders of democracy, lovers of liberty, fighting for freedom and campaigning for civil rights, kings and queens of this great country, supporters of John Kerry, Democrats.

I thought I'd just post a little something from the Morning Sedition blog site to remind us all... as if we needed it... why Dubya must go...

Pres. Bush Wednesday said that Sen. John Kerry doesn't understand the war on terror.

This from the same president who also has said:
He doesn't think he can win the war on terror
He doesn't think much about Osama bin Laden
The Iraq war would have no casualties
Sweden is a neutral country with no army
He got a sense of Vladimir Putin's soul from looking into his eyes
America's war with Muslim terrorists is a "crusade"
Iraq had WMDs
Iraq had ties to al Qaeda
He had no warning of al Qaeda's intent to strike the U.S.
That his war with Iraq may have led to WMDs being removed from Iraq.

Ain't that something?

The article that snoopy posted the link to is interesting. I just wish that Kerry was a bit more detailed about his policies, then I could see him blowing Bush out of the water. I like what I've seen so far though.

Last Tuesday, I picked up my absentee ballot and the line to check in was easily several hundred people long.

Today, I turned in my absentee ballot and the line was even longer.

It's as if people cannot wait to vote and that almost never bodes well for the status quo.

Thanks for the link to the Rolling Stone article snoopy!! You really get the sense that Kerry cares about this country.

Isn't that an awesome article, RM? I loved reading about John Kerry the man, rather than the usual sort of political talking points that we've all read over and over. I came away with the same sort of impression, that this is a man who loves his country.

Can't make this stuff up. However, to be fair, Morning Sedition did not quote a source.

I have heard that quote before. I started to google it but I must run out the door.

Oh yes, Bush really did say that. Actually, this is what he said:

"I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul."

Very interesting observations by Bush for several reasons:

1) Straightforward and trustworthy aren't the usual words people use to speak about the KGB and Putin was the head of the KGB.

2) As far as souls, many individuals wondered if the KGB even had them.

We've gone from Ronald Reagan's "trust, but verify" to Bush's "look into my eyes".

You really can't make this stuff up.

I was just thinking in less than two weeks we'll have a new President-Elect Doesn't that just put a smile on your face?

I do want to warn you. Even though I certainly approve and you certainly have the right idea, you can be barred from the voting area as your shirt might be considered "campaigning and electioneering". That stuff has to be kept 200 ft (yards ?) away from where people actuallly cast their ballot.

Just a heads up.

That Dope T-shirt is funny. I like the Misleader shirt too. It's simple and directly to the point.
