The real problem IMO, which happens often here given the amount of construction, is that the trucks in the right lane are going no where near the speed limit. Traveling in the left lane is the only option for everybody going near or over the limit.

I often find myself thinking to the person behind me... feel free to try and pass me on the right, but 10 miles over the limit is as fast as I'm going... and then they try and pass on the right and find out why everybody is on the left.

I always like when there is a cop on the side of the road who has somebody pulled over and everybody jams on the breaks. Do you really think that he is going to stop writing the ticket and come after you.

Oh lord, my husband does this. Granted, he just taps his breaks and I tell him, "Baby I don't think he's going to come after you for goin 71 in a 70 mph zone."

But why don't you move over when you can to let people by who wish to travel faster? This is what I don't understand. You are impeding the flow of traffic. The only people who get to decide who is going too fast are the guys with the lights on their cars.

I also agree with the 4-way stop. In our town people really do not understand how it works, they just sit there till someone honks at them and they go or they don't stop at all. Just run the stop sign.

And we have to total opposite problem here! People stop (if they even bother stopping) for one second and then just go. While 3 other people have been stopped patiently waiting their turn. And people don't use blinkers so its impossible to know where they plan on going.

It is so funny here when a cop enters onto the parkways. The entire 3 lanes of traffic slam on their breaks and start driving at the same speed as the cop. You just see a huge gap in traffic where the people ahead "got away" from the cop and the people behind are driving like saints.

One thing really bothers me whenever I have to take the parkways here. I'll be in the middle lane behind someone doing a slower speed than I'm comfortable with. So I will then go in the left or right lane, which ever is available, and attempt to pass them. Just as I am next to their car, they speed up greatly. Ok, whatever. So I go back behind them. Then they slow down again. So I try to pass, and they speed up! WTH!? It's like they don't want to allow anyone to pass them! Or I've had it happen when the slow driver is some teenaged boy and the second they see that a girl is passing them, they freak out and speed away at dangerous speeds. *sigh* I love LI drivers.

I merge right and get out of the way (even if it means I have to slow down) just so the speeder on my tail isn't tempted to go weaving through traffic in the other lanes to try and get around me.

I described my situation which has only two lanes in each direction. I also think there is a lot more traffic here than in other areas people may be posting about.

I understand that when it's heavy traffic. In these cases everyone just has to be patient. I'm a careful, patient driver but my worst peeve is when people have plenty of room to move over yet they continue to travel in the left lane. I just don't understand what they could possibly be thinking. I drive over 100 miles a day on the highway so I see lots of this cluelessness.

I hate when people go like 40 in the left lane and then you come to find out that they are old and they shouldnt even be driving in the first place, I think after like the age of 90 you shouldnt drive anymore!!!!!

Ahhhh, you must've been driving behind my husband. I apologize on his behalf--he gets on my nerves, too! He's only 38, though.....
