For Canadians doing Mypoints...

I thought I'd post this since I saw a question on another thread about Canadians doing Mypoints. I have been using Mypoints for a long time, and a few months ago it started being completely unfriendly to Canadians - almost all banners disappeared, i wasn't getting bonus emails, etc.

So I tried a new strategy, and it's worked really well! I just changed my address in the member profile/account info - I basically "made up" an address in the US (apparently I now live in Federal Way, WA) - anyway, since then I now get to see all the banners, and I am back to getting bonus emails (usually at least 1 per day, sometimes more.) Oh, and I also chose every single category in the section where it asks you your interests.

I sign up for whatever I can that is free, and I just make sure that my email address is the same as the one I use for Mypoints. I feel somewhat bad that pet food samples or whatever are headed to some incorrect address, but at the same time I think it's weird that they allow redemptions at giftcertificates.ca but have hardly any ways for Canadians to earn points.

Don't get discouraged - try the address-change strategy!

I think it was me that asked about Canadians doing mypoints...I've been very frustrated with it. So now I have another question...what will you do when it's time to cash in your points? Change your address back to the correct address?
Thanks for the info...I've felt like I'm missing something!

Hi CindyCan!

well so far i have only redeemed for giftcertificates.ca, and since Mypoints only sends you a Giftpass # by email, it doesn't really matter what your shipping address. When you go to giftcertificates.ca to redeem your Giftpass #, then you can enter in your regular address (it doesn't connect with Mypoints, so doesn't even have an address on file for you.)

For other things, i think that you can choose to put in a different shipping address (different from your "billing" address Mypoints has.) However, I once tried to redeem for Olive Garden gc's and it told me that my address was invalid. So i put in a friend's US address. The gc's never arrived, and I asked Mypoints to re-send them - they supposedly did, but my friend still hasn't received them (this was months ago!) So that's why I've stuck to giftcertificates.ca ... at least I know I'll receive the gc.

Thanks! I'm doing points programs to try to earn towards a Disney trip, so hopefully there's something at giftcertificates.ca that will help with that.
