For brown eyed and blue eyed parents.. what color are your kids' eyes?

HI DIS friends,


I have three kids...my two boys have blonde hair and blue eyes. My girl has dark brown hair and brown eyes.

I'm expecting another baby in July and I'm curious if the baby will be a blonde/blue or a brown/brown child.

The books say if one parent is a blue eye and the other is a brown eye then one child out of four will be a blue eyed child. Well, I already got two blue eyed children! My DH is blue eyed and I'm brown eyed. My blue eye recessive gene goes way back to my grandfather.

I've studied all my friends' kids and YES the book therory is true. I'm the only one so far that has two blue eyed children out of similar background situation.

Anyone else?

I don't have kids...but my mom had blue eyes, my dad has brown. My brother and I are blue...my sis is brown.

LOL! Interesting thing genetics! Since it's a 1 in 4 chance every time... you could have another blue eyed child.... how about blonde hair and brown eyes... I think that's a lovely combination, especially for girls!

My son has light hair and blue eyes and I have dark brown hair and brown eyes. I was surprised that that happened. He's my only child though.

Both my kids have blue eyes (I have blue, DH has brown). My daughter has brown hair and son has blonde (neither of us have blonde hair).

Oh, also my mom was blonde, dad brunette...we are all brunette.

My sister and her DH have brown eyes/brown hair...my niece has hazel eyes like my mom's mom and blonde hair.

My eyes are brown and DH's are blue. Our DS has brown eyes and DD has hazel eyes (from my side-brother, aunt and grandmother had hazel eyes).

I have blue eyes, but we can only have brown eyed kids because DH is Italian with no recessive blue eye gene. But that's ok because I LOVE all their big brown eyes.

This post also reminded me that my Italian father has 7 siblings with brown eyes...and ONE with blue.....

DH has brown eyes, I have blue.

My first son has dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and an olive complexion, like this father.

My second son favors my side of the family, he had platinum blonde hair when he was born (just like I did) but it's getting progressively darker. He has blue eyes and a fair complexion.

My DH is one of 6 children and they all have brown eyes except one sister, she has blue. Neither his mom or dad had blue eyes, but his paternal grandmother had blue eyes.

I have two brothers, both of them have brown eyes like my Mother. My father has the blue eyes, I guess that's where I got them from.

Mom has Brown Eyes with a recessive blue eye gene and Dad has blue eyes. All 3 of us have brown eyes, much to my chagrin. I inherited Dad's hair color, hair texture, coloring, and early greying tendency - why couldn't I get blue eyes too?

1st DD- brown eyes and hair
DS- brown eyes, blond hair
2nd DD- green eyes, blond hair

The funny thing is that in our case, the children who received our physical genetic traits are also the most like us, personality wise. My eldest DD is like my DH and my youngest DD is like me. And our son is a mix (physically too). Kinda strange huh?

Well both our kids have blue eyes but both DH and I have blue eyes so that was not a shock for us. DH has brown hair and I have red hair and DS has darker blond hair and DD has brown hair. The red hair is at least going to skip on generation.

With my parents my Dad has blue eyes and my Mom has green eyes. Both of us girls got blue eyes but my brother got the green eyes. My Dad had red hair and my Mom has brown hair but all three of us kids have red hair from Dad.

My husband and I are both brown eyes. His father is blue, mother brown. My mother is blue, father is brown. Both my sister and I are brown/brown hair.

My husbands family are blue/brown hair, brown/brown hair, blue/brown hair, brown/brown hair.


So we have recessive on both sides so there is a chance of a blue eyed child.

Our kids have very dark brown eyes. One is brown/ brown hair. The other is brown/red hair. We are expecting the red head to change to a light brown eventually she'll be 2 in July.
