There is a slight chance that we may go to WDW in Nov. again and dh wants to stay onsite if we do

We would be missing the Cdn at par deal. Are there any good deals for the poly and AKL for AP holders in Nov.? Just wondering if purchasing an AP might be the best way to go. Anyone have experience staying on-site in Nov? Historically would a mousesaver code work out better?

I'm excited at the possibility of finally staying on-site.

There is a good chance there will be an Ap discount along with a few others. What you should do is wait to see what comes available because you do not need the AP to make the reservation and if indeed you do get an AP discount you can then buy the pass. Start to watch around the middle of July.

Be sure to check Mary Waring's site at mousesavers.com. She seems to almost always be the one who is the first one to announce upcoming discounts, including AP. I know there's also a list of past years' discounts and when they were first announced which might help with your planning.
