Does it get noisy in the early hours of the morning with all the partiers returning to their rooms? DH and I were looking for a quiet NYE, and were thinking of the proximity to Epcot, and watching the midnight fireworks from our balcony. Since we'd probably be asleep shortly after midnight, how quiet do you think it might be as others return? (I just remember being in a hotel one night after a rock concert-I didn't attend and was asleep at 11:00, then when it ended and everyone else came back, no one could sleep through the partying!)

I think it depends on where your room is located. If you are on the poolside or courtyard, it can be noisier, also depends on who is next door to you. If they are excessively noisy, security is pretty good about taking care of it for you. I think away from the elevators and at the end of a hall would be quieter but who can guarantee that location? We were there last year and we were up late - I didn't notice a lot of noise except from the courtyard- people coming into the building. Doors are pretty sound proof.

I was at BCV this last NYE. Unfortunately, I don't think you can compare NYE 02/03 with what might happen next year. It rained cats, dogs and little kittens from about 7pm on through the early morning. The guests who gutted it out (we were not amoung them!) were far fewer than those who stay out part midnight on a normal NYE.

Your best bet would be to request an Epcot view away from the elevators. That way you will have fewer people passing your room on the way back home.

As an aside, I felt pretty sorry for the people in the BC who had the woods view over the Epcot shortcut. They had constant traffic outside their balconies.

We were there & had planned on a quiet evening too (especially glad that was the plan since it was like a monsoon!!). We were in a 2 BR on the 5th floor poolside & noticed nothing. My DH & DD were the only ones to make it to midnight--The only thing my DH mentioned about noise was the fact that when the fireworks went off in Epcot, he thought we were being bombed!! I just slept thru it!! Have a great time--That was our first trip home & we loved it!

This was our 4th NYE at Epcot and we did gut it out. (Both ponchos and unbrellas). I'd judge that less than 25% of the original guests stayed all the way through the midnight fireworks.

Afterwards everyone pretty much headed straight for the exits. On the way back to the villas we walked past some guests sitting outside of their Beach Club hotel room (ground floor) who were still celebrating a little, but nothing noisy. By the time we got to the BCV's themselves it was totally quiet.

Had it not been for rain it might have been a little different, although I don't think it would have really been very noisy. In the past NYE's we've been there, by the time it's all over, most people are pretty tired and quiet down a lot. There'll still be some horns blowing now and then, but I wouldn't expect anything noisy enough to affect your sleeping in your own villa.

Good for you! We danced in the rain at Japan until about 10:30 after a great dinner at Teppanyaki Steakhouse. My freind's 13 year old DD is studying Japanese and we have been to Japan so our chef was very freindly. We sloshed back to the resort (I had shorts, Tevas and a poncho ... only the bottom of my shorts were wet) and relaxed until midnight. We watched the fireworks from my friend's BCV balcony (our 1BR overlooked the pool), but were only able to see about 50% of the regular IllumiNations fierworks because of the smoke and then only 5-10% of the extra fireworks. How were the fireworks from the park?

Fireworks were good in that because the crowds were way down, we had front rail position, on that little island that's mostly a VIP viewing area. The one between the two bridges that go to France and to GB respectively.

The bad was that the heavy clouds, along with the rain (and getting cold) made it uncomfortable. Also the low ceilings semed to keep the firework's smoke from climbing. Most of it drifted off to our left, toward Britain / Canada areas, but enough hit us to also obscure some fireworks a little.

But what the heck, it's NYE at Disney.

P.S. We got our ressies in now for BWV for next NYE. That'll be #5. This is definitely becoming a tradition.

P.S. In my original post I said that it was probably only 25% of the crowd that stayed. Now in hindsight as I think about it a little more, it was probably more like 10% or less. Everyone around us had front rail positions, with a lot of rail still available, and no one at all standing behind.
